About this cabin rental

The “Heron’s nest” is 4 stories. No steps to the main floor, which consists of a fully equipped kitchen, 8 person dining room table, full bath (one of three), Living room with a queen sized sleeper sofa, plus a large bedroom with a queen sized bed. There is a single roll out bed in the walk in closet. Down stairs to the walk out basement, there is a bedroom with 2 twin beds, a full bath, washer & dryer, TV room with a two queen sized futon sofas, mini-fridge & wet bar. The TV has DVD. The room walks out to a concrete patio with your Hot Tub 2 steps out your door. The Charcoal/wood grill is here, along with your campfire area, right along the river’s edge! Stairs lead down to the River’s edge, but the river has unfortunately, continuously swept our dock away during yearly winter flooding. Up to the 3rd floor is the loft, which has an open view of the River. Full bath, and walk in closet. Up the spiral stairs brings you into the cupola, our 4th story. There is a fold down futon couch, our 3rd pull-out. Your covered deck has a gas grill with lp gas. Beds sleep 6, pull out couches 6. “Heron’s Nest” sleeps 10-12. Everything is provided except your food & drink. WEEKDAYS: Monday – Thursday $220.00 per night for the 1st two people. Additional guests are $12.50 each, per night. WEEKENDS: Friday – Sunday $230.00 per night for the 1st two people. Additional guests are $12.50 each per night. MAJOR HOLIDAYS: $245.00 per night for the 1st two people. We love our stay there we were there for I days and they were well worth it! Michelle and Bud are great if we ever had any questions they were there to answer ever question and even told us places we can go!

It was well worth the money and had just a wonderful time with our family. Michelle and Bud are very accommodating and if we ever had any problems or anything they were right there everyrime. It's a beautiful place to be. My family and I loved being there and really didn't want to leave!

Overall the property is an older cabin on the lake. It was clean but not detailed clean. There are carpenter bees all over the porch but they don't bother you too much. The biggest issue is the basement and plumbing. The basement smells like mold. And then also in the basement the p traps become dry and you get sewer gas soooo bad. We filled the shower up just like the note in the bathroom said but it constantly became dry and smelled. If you have issues like this I feel it should be in the listing. If the smell issue wasn't there it wasn't a bad little spot.

They double booked our cabin. I was asked to move to a different smaller cabin. They told me it would take quite a while to get a refund if I canceled and my trip was just 3 weeks away. So I pretty much had to say yes because I wouldn't have the refund in time to book something else else. The one that they booked me in

Host is communicative and the property is as described. Cabin was very clean and adequately appointed. View is really exceptional as the house is angled to look down the river, not just directly across. Bed was comfortable. We didn’t use the hot tub, but the area provided for it has great privacy and it appeared to be well maintained. Will likely return with a larger group in the future.

Our party consisted of three elderly siblings and two spouses who try to assemble annually while still possible. Unless you are planning to prepare all meals within the cabin (which is fully equipped to so), dining facilities nearby are few and far between. You should include this factor in you selection of vacation locations. On the bright side, the location is perfect for relaxing with an amazing view.

Thought the cabin was ok. Air conditioner is inadequate for the cabin. There were fans throughout the place but were not nearly enough. There were only 3 of us for the weekend. If the cabin was filled with max guests allowed, it would have been very uncomfortable. Cabin was equipped with everything we needed. I don’t believe it is worth what we ended up paying after all the add-ons and fees.

The cabin was clean and well stocked with all the necessities! The hosts were very helpful and accommodating. You cannot beat the view or the peacefulness of the location. This is the perfect spot if you want to get away and enjoy the quiet part of life.

It is a lovely location, and has a beautiful view. The main issue we had was that the uppermost loft bedroom, that we had counted on for one of our kiddos was not usable as the temperature up there was unbearably hot. The second issue was that the fold-up bed advertised in the listing (that we had counted on for another kiddo) was not functional. So ultimately we were down 2 beds that we had counted on. In all fairness - we did not contact the host to complain because a) it was very late when we realized either of these things, and b) we didn't feel there was anything they'd be able to do about it so last minute. So they did not have the opportunity to rectify it, though I'm not sure they could have. We tried to make do with the space we had, but ultimately it was not a comfortable situation for our large family, so we opted to leave on day 2, rather then sleeping there again. If you have a smaller group, it is lovely, but I would think twice if you are counting on those 2 beds in the summer:( One other thing to consider, it is in the middle of nowhere. Which can be great, but important to know that there is nothing around. This was not a negative for us, but it was definitely further away from gas/food/civilization than we expected.

The place was nice. Read through other reviews about bedrooms and such beforehand. We did so we were not surprised and it fit us fine. There were a lot of little spiders in the house…it may be time to spray. We spent very little time at the cabin but it’s comfortable and a great view. Boat ramp is very close. We ventured to Tell City for breakfast at Julie’s and it was worth the drive.

Four retired teachers-some friends and some family- spent four relaxing days at the Blue Herron. We laughed, we cried, we told stories and we took naps. The cabin was immaculate and the beds were great! Thank you for a wonderful get away vacation!

It was stated it is a 4 bedroom. It is only 2 with a loft that has a bed and a basement room with a bed. Neither of these provide any privacy. The picnic table broke while 3 of our guest were sitting on it and my son took a screw to the head because a board was sitting hanging over the end leg with the screw exposed

Our Family REALLY enjoyed the place and the entire weekend. One son said this is the best place we've stayed! My husband said he wished he could have met Bud. This is the first cabin built in Bud's bunch of rentals, I believe. I think small fixes and deep cleaning are coming when time allows. None of the issues affected how much we really enjoyed our stay! We really hope to come back next year, maybe with a larger family bunch! It was GREAT! Thank you, Bud and Michelle! (8-)

The location is beautiful! Right on the river. We had 7 adults in the cabin and had plenty of room for all of us. Kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. Perfect place to stay for the Kentucky Derby as it’s away from all the crowds, but close enough to get to the track early! If not going into Louisville, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors from the wrap around deck.

Beautiful Views from main level and upper level open loft(bedroom). Only 1 private bedroom. Upstairs was open for anyone on porch and living room to see, and other bedroom downstairs was a walk through. We had a peaceful stay with only a couple of hiccups. What we thought were cockroaches hampered the use of the kitchen area. Some of the furniture was not safe to use on the porch and in dining room. Communication was great. Owner came right over and said there was roach spray under the sink, and was good at communication for checkin. The grill on the porch was easy to use propane, and had tremendous views. So peaceful, and as you would expect to get that kind of peace and quiet, it's not close to anything(grocery, shops, etc...) It was just two elderly couples, so we had plenty of room except for the living area where we had a couch for 3 people and no other comfortable furniture. We had 3 chairs on the porch that were comfortable, but the other was not safe. Needs some updating of furniture for rockers on porch and comfortable furniture in the living room. It was okay for us 4, and we wanted the peace and quiet to enjoy the views!

The place was great for the weekend! Plenty of room and space for everyone! A couple things I would say was the communication could’ve been better between the host. Also with saying that, the boat dock was wrecked from the flooding and we didn’t find out until we got there. Luckily a boat launch was down the street so it worked out but would’ve been nice to know. With that being said the place exceeded expectations, the view was awesome

We loved our stay in Magnet! It’s so peaceful here and we were sad to go. The view is to die for!! Bud was kind enough to provide a local map with points of interest. We did a couple of them and this did not disappoint!! So do them:) The only reason I gave 1 less star is that AC couldn’t keep up. The house was pretty warm on arrival and lots of house fans(very much appreciated) to help keep things cool along with drapes closed. The 3rd and 4th floors were not used due to this(and we only had 2 people). We did however find comfort by using basement to keep cool! Minor thing, but good to be aware of! Otherwise we enjoyed our stay!!!

Great view, especially from the hot tub! Rural setting with a lot of space for multiple friends/family to spread out. The owner, Bud, actually built these cabins. Super cool. When you arrive, you check in at the office across the street to sign leasing agreement, but I didn't know this beforehand. So, a way to improve from a visitors stand point would be to make this more clear for guests. Otherwise, the owner was very quick to respond to any messages sent through the app. I would stay here again.

We loved it. I cannot even explain the view. You just have to see it. Seeing the buzzards roost was really cool as well. Though this place was plenty big for a family, we liked it because it was pretty private. Many times when you stay in places like this, every place is built right next to another. This one was not. We loved all the wood. We saw an eagle. Thank you so much for making sure we had a WONDREFUL time.

This cabin on the Ohio river is amazing. Three floors of living space and a winding staircase leads to a small cupola for a bird's eye view of the river. Our host Bud was extremely helpful He called the day before our arrival to let us know the cabin would be ready early should we want to arrive before the usual check-in time and where we could find the key. My husband and I loved the hot tub and fire pit overlooking the river where we could watch the boats pass by. The cabin was clean, well-stocked and cozy. We enjoyed the home so much that we pretty much stayed in for two days to relax and watch the river.

We loved the property. The views of the river and it's closeness were better than we could have imagined. Like most such properties, sound carries from floor to floor, so sleeping in wasn't an option for anyone. Overall we loved it and hope to be able to come back.
