This lovingly maintained and well-equipped oceanfront beach house is ideal for your family’s next vacation or to share with friends. You will be in awe of the exquisite ocean and coastline views from every room. Kahalekai is perfectly situated to view the mesmerizing sunsets as they dip into the Pacific and are quickly followed by the star-studded tropical night sky. Lovely gardens, tropically landscaped and meticulously kept, leave no doubt that you are truly in an island paradise. New air conditioning units in every bedroom on property including the guest cottage to keep you comfortable at night! No air conditioning in the main house living room/kitchen area. Sleeps 8, 1 king, 3 queens.

We (6 people) stayed in 03/2025, paid around 1K per night, and we had a great time. It has great views, and there is a nice beach 5 min walking distance. The house is large enough, and has AC. We used the guest house (fully equipped for a couple), and the BBQ. Issues were (a) couldn't have an early check in (4pm enforced), (b) bed linen had mold smell, (c) last day there were insects (cockroaches) in the upper bathroom, (d) the master bathroom had a smell, (e) the AC were too loud, (f) there is no trail for walking. The management were very responsive and friendly, they took care of the bed linen, they cleaned again, responded in all our requests - that made all the difference. We would recommend.

Property is well situated and provides many opportunities to watch whales and relax. The TV cables need to be replaced because they caused may intermittent problems. Some panels in the blinds need to be added and some need to be replaced. Overall a great experience and it could have been better with the minor inconveniences mentioned.

The set up of the house worked great giving the kids the main house and us the cottage. The lanai was our space to experience beautiful sunrises and sunsets as well as enjoy outside dinners with the sound of waves crashing below. We even saw whales in the distance while spending quality time together as a family. Mahalo for making our 2024 Christmas one to remember for years to come.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Can't get a much better oceanfront location on Poipu. The view is spectacular. However, the house definitely needs some TLC. All of the bedroom blinds need to be replaced. Every bedroom is missing slats on the blinds, with the cottage being the worst of all. It is missing at least 4 or 5 slats making privacy a big issue. Also, very disappointed that not even salt and pepper were provided. Overall, the house has a million-dollar view, but is in dire need of some new blinds.

Will mention that when we were cleaning up to check out, some stuff (sock & bottle of vitamins) was found under one of the beds that didn’t belong to us. Could have been cleaner for that reason. Also one slider door was very difficult to lock. if raining - definitely watch your step around the garage area leading to back of house. Is slippery.

Loved waking up and having coffee on the patio each morning. Incredible views from every room. I wouldn’t recommend for small children since you cannot swim out front but there is a nice swimmable beach within walking distance. The guest room was perfect for our newly weds in the group. They had their own kitchen, bathroom, patio and bedroom with portable air conditioning. The location is perfect for exploring both sides of the island but recommend stopping at Costco and stocking up. The local grocery store is extremely expensive. A few things that would make this home perfect…new bath towels (the ones they had were very old and rough), the home is very dated and could use a refresh (paint, furnishings, general maintenance). I would recommend a combo lock on the door instead of a lockbox for ease of use with a large group. Also, the resident rooster became our island pet (we called him Harold) and we looked forward to his morning wake up calls.

We stayed at this property for multiple days and it was fantastic. Check in and out was simple. Great sunset ocean views and BBQs on the patio. We had 8 people in our group and the living arrangements were great. Fun little beach within walking distance and only a short 15 minute drive to commercial shopping district. Would stay at this property again in a heartbeat!!!!

While some upgrades to the property would be nice (screens aren’t in great shape and the screen doors are hard to open and close; turning on the lights you want/need isn’t as easy as it should be), the views and location leave little to be desired. Sunrise and sunset views can hardly be beat, and from the lanai we watched turtles swim by, a monk seal bask on the rocks right out back of the house, and humpback whales breaching. Swimming and snorkeling beaches are minutes away, and getting to the rest of the island is easy.

The house is clean and well stocked for cooking. I thought the upstairs beds were going to be Queen sized, unfortunately each was a full. The house has plenty of fans to help with the air flow. It does get hot, even in December. Parking is wonderful, remember to back in. The house comes with laundry, beach chairs and umbrellas. We enjoyed the covered patio for shade and rain days. The eating area is limited because the table does not have enough room to put food and table ware to eat for our group. We used it for food service and sat outside or on couches. You need bug spray! Homeowner should do a walk thru inspection regarding condition of window screens, window treatments, furniture both inside and out. We had plenty of towels and soap. Property management was excellent in communication. Gold stars to them!!

Stocked with everything needed including chairs and umbrella. The botanical garden right across the street and on Thursday there is a market. Spouting horn is walking distance. It was hot but there were fans in every room. I would stay here again. Loved it!

Words can’t express how my my family and I enjoyed being here! The house was perfect for my family of 15- (came over in groups of 4-7 over a 3 week period.) Beautiful, peaceful, awe inspiring views! Sure, it would have been great if the house and cottage were air conditioned, but the fans and lots of open windows helped. It’s common there, so everyone knew coming in to expect the heat/ humidity. To me it’s part of the experience of the islands. Thanks for helping with a few special accommodations for my disability. The kids and grandkids are already planning for future visits, both to Kauai and the other islands. This was the first time for all but one of them, and they were so amazed with their time in Kauai! Hope to stay here again, the grandkids are missing Frieda- the little black chicken that visits all day on the lanai! Thanks again!

This house was better than we ever expected. The location was close enough for walks to beaches and stores, but felt completely private. You’ll find every kitchen appliance and/or item you need. The furnishings are authentic “Beach” themed, very comfortable, especially the beds. The guest house was perfect for a couple and their three-year-old. And in the garage you’ll find umbrellas, beach chairs and even some snorkeling equipment. The lanai, though, is the real gem of the property. We used it morning, noon and night for relaxing and outdoor meals. We can’t recommend this property more!

We agree with the property ID description: "Kahalekai -Best Value Oceanfront Home in Sunny Poipu!" Great location, clean, nice layout and amenities. We had excellent communications / interactions with Garden Island Rentals staff before and during our stay. Excellent views from the lanai and inside windows/sliders. We saw numerous sea turtles, a pod of spinner dolphins, just off shore. House amenities were in good shape. The washer & dryer located in garage was handy. Tommy Bahama beach chairs, an ice chest and some boogie boards were also nice to have on hand. We were on the go a lot, but it was nice to also just kick back and enjoy the ocean at the house.

Great oceanfront location

This property worked nicely for four couples for 10 days and we would rent here again if the situation arises. Patio view of the ocean is outstanding and the proximity to restaurants, shops and hiking trails was wonderful and there is a nice small beach within walking distance. The house was well equipped with kitchen utensils, towels, beach chairs etc. this is an older property showing a bit of wear but it is spacious and clean and we thought it was a good value. The WiFi didn’t work for over half of our time here and despite our efforts with the manager and spectrum it was never fully restored. Cellular coverage is spotty in this location as well. Spectrum recommended a new router for what that is worth. Air conditioning is available in two of the four bedrooms. While it wasn’t essential, there were nights where the air conditioned rooms were more comfortable than those without it. Overall we enjoyed our stay immensely and would choose to stay here again.

Reviewer Comments: We stayed here the second week of October 2019, great location, walking distance to a small beach and a few minutes drive to the larger southside beaches. Almost across the street from the National Tropical Botannical Gardens, and about 100 yards from the Spouting Horn Park. Beds were comfortable, excellent furniture outside and in, plenty of beach chairs (good Tommy Bahama ones) and boogie boards in the garage. Very few problems at all. Several of the sliding screen doors do not lock, meaning you have to lock the sliding glass doors at night (was robbed in Poipu in 2015). This was a problem because of the record heat the week we were there (not forecast). The upstairs bedrooms were fine with the A/C, but the downstairs master and the cottage guest house were miserable. I had to buy more two fans at Home Depot and add them to other pedestal fans in the master (FIVE total including the ceiling fan) to make it somewhat bearable.

This is no reflection on the property whatsoever, but if you're from a state which is dry (like AZ), remember there's no AC in the cottage (guest house), master bedroom, kitchen, or family room (whole downstairs).

Overall (except for the absolutely awful weather that week) it was a great stay and great property!
