Casa torre Mezquita

La ubicación es inmejorable para patearse el casco histórico de la ciudad, Cristina y Javier estupendos anfitriones y las vistas de la terraza la verdad es que han sido maravillosas. Además, está decorada con un gusto exquisito.

Los dos grandes inconvenientes son las escaleras que separan la cocina y el baño de las habitaciones (nos costó un poco bajar las maletas y de noche tienes que ir si o sí con linterna) y que hay varios bares de copas abajo, por lo que nos costó dormir, pero en líneas generales lo bueno supera a lo malo.

The location was fantastic because it was so central. We loved sitting out on the balcony watching the world go by on the streets below. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was reasonably well equipped. The living space was good and the bathroom was modern. We got the keys from the man in the shop below which was really convenient and he was on hand when we struggled to get the wifi working.

Ear plugs are required to get a good night's sleep because it is very central and people are walking by chatting at all hours. The shopkeepers and bar owners have rattling trolleys and they arrive early too but I slept fine with ear plugs. There are also a large number of air-conditioning units on the roof and they were a bit annoying at times (we ran the air-con for heating). The apartment was clean but the kitchen floor was ancient and had a lot of ingrained stains (I felt compelled to have a bit of a clean and they did not come off - historical cooking accidents). We also had issues with the kitchen sink not draining very well. I booked the apartment on the assumption that there were 2 bedrooms as advertised on Booking.com, but there is only one bedroom, they put a very comfortable bed into the lounge for me and it was not a problem.

The location was amazing and the rooftop terrace had a great view. The appartment was spacious in a nice old building.

We got interested in the appartment not only because of the great view and location but also the listed facilities (washing machine, soundproof windows, and WiFi). Unfortunately, we got a few unpleasent surprises when we arrived. WiFi: I didn't ask for the WiFi username and password while collecting the keys from the owners, as these are usually writen down somewhere. When we looked for this information we couldn't find it. I couldn't even find a router in the apartment (a bad sign, but maybe they share someone elses WiFi). We tried to contact the hosts to get the WiFi access, but they did not reply at all. This was surprising, as they were very responsive before we arrived, and they were very responsive when we asked how to return the keys. My suspicion is that there was no WiFi even though it's listed. Soundproof windows and general noise level: The windows definitely were not soundproof. Our first night was on a Friday, and there were many people partying in the old part of town. Even with the windows completely closed it felt like the partygoers were walking directly through the bedroom. The street only got quieter at around 3am. Saturday and Sunday were quieter overall. Periodically there was a loud noise from some sort of pump. It happened even with the aircons turned off. Washing machine: The door opening mechanism was broken. When showering, the water can splash outside the shower cabin, and can start collecting in a puddle where you need to connect the washing machine to the electricity. Just be aware of that. Apart from that there was still some construction stuff lying around (e.g. on the washing machine). The place seemed to be 'unfinished' - pipes sticking out or leaking on the balcony and other small things. It was listed that there would be a kettle and free toiletries - there weren't. There was no sponge to do the dishes.
