Only 4 km drive and you are in the bustling fishing and ferry port of Hirtshals with a genuine fishing atmosphere, where you can sometimes buy fresh fish directly from a cutter and there are good stores and restaurants. The sport angler will find good fishing waters at the pier or can come aboard one of the fishing cutters for a deep sea fishing trip to e.g. the Yellow Reef. Golfers can enjoy an 18-hole and a 9-hole golf course in a beautiful natural setting near Hirtshals. You can also visit the North Sea Museum, which has impressive aquariums and a seal tank that illustrate the animal and plant life in the North Sea. Towards the south, you might like the picturesque fishing village of Lønstrup, where coastal fishing is practiced today as in the past, and boats are pulled onto the beach by means of a capstan. In Lønstrup you will find many nice cafes and restaurants and many galleries and art workshops, which reflect in their works the play of colors of the sea and the sand in the dazzling light, which is typical for this area. Among the natural phenomena worth seeing in this area is the huge shifting sand dune Råbjerg Mile, which on its migration up to 15 m per year in eastern direction buries everything under itself.
