Enjoy the sunshine, the sea, the food, the people

Overall we had a good stay at the apartment but a few things to note. The location is excellent. You can walk directly to access the promenade, and so the beach is literally a two minute walk away. You also are able to easily walk to numerous bars and restaurants along the promenade and the side streets. The church and old town are 15 minutes away, and similarly the train station and a mini market. Apartment not quite as nice as the photos, but was generally clean (except toilet which could do with a good scrub). Living area is quite spacious, main bedroom is large, bathroom with shower good size, and reasonable kitchen, with brand new fridge freezer and most equipment. Main issue was size of second bedroom which is very small, which isn't clear. We asked for two beds to be set up, one was a 3/4 size single and the other squeezed in the room was a fold out bed. My 1.85m tall teenage son was really much too big for both, but managed to sleep on one. Fortunately there is a double size sofa bed in the lounge area, which was the most comfortable bed. Problem was that there were no workable blinds on the windows or balcony doors, so once it was light, it was light. Storage space in the apartment limited as there is a lot of the owners things filling the cupboards and available wardrobes, clothes, baby equipment etc... . . Air con in apartment only in living area, was good but bedrooms stayed very hot, we expected it in there too. Pool was a smaller than expected, water was clean but parts of it in need of attention. Grounds were well kept around the pool but beware of the local full time residents, who are not that welcoming to holiday renters. Owner forwarded rules of the pool and garden on the day of arrival. No walking in to the apartment block wet (fair enough), but also no inflatables, no food or drink near the pool, no ball games, and no walking to and from the pool in swimsuits only. There is no poolside equipment only benches, (we had to purchase two loungers and left in the apartment). I put up a sun brolly (which was from the apartment), but putting anything in the grass wasn't well received from the locals and they were very rude. This wasn't one of the rules laid down, but unfortunately it made for an unfriendly environment by the pool whenever the same people were there. Owner very attentive and good communication, but felt upset at being charged 20 Euro for late arrival, despite informing of flight delay before we left UK.
