Ideally located, stylishly furnished, thoughtfully equipped, and private, with beautiful views, you will be glad you booked Matisse from the moment you step through the door.
Matisse is one of four beautiful holiday apartments at Maison Pierre D’Or, a traditional stone house on the edge of the medieval centre of Sarlat in the stunning Perigord Noir region of Dordogne in South West France.
Matisse is the perfect base from which to explore the town and its surrounding countryside. It’s ideal for couples, and is within an easy 15 minute stroll into the medieval centre.
Sarlat is a busy, vibrant town with lots of tourists in the summer especially, and if you want the convenience of being in Sarlat and to enjoy the restaurants and markets, medieval buildings and squares, and entertainment, we are perfectly located.
The apartment features a cosy living room, a very comfortable bedroom, a sociable and well equipped dining kitchen, a modern bathroom, and a light and airy conservatory which leads on to a private balcony with a superb view over Sarlat.
Attention has been paid to the details. The apartment has been furnished with great looking light, oak furniture. The bedroom has an exceptionally comfortable, king size bed with fresh, crisp, cotton bedlinen and soft pillows. The shower room has a walk in shower with hot water on tap and fabulous fluffy towels. The kitchen is fully equipped, there is also a Nespresso coffee maker. There are quirky lamps and paintings by local artists, giving Matisse its own unique character.
Oh, and there is free parking on site and free high-speed WIFI. Free high speed Internet.

A delightful apartment on the edge of Sarlat with a 10 minute walk to the downtown. So easy to enjoy the many pleasures of the town, which is an amazing piece of medieval architecture. Host and hostess were very nice to us and we really enjoyed staying with them.

The apartment is everything I hoped for, and more, a 'home from home' which was spotlessly clean. It's true to the photos but they don't reflect the 'feel' of the place. Within a week I felt like I was staying in the home of friends. The hosts, Maggie and Ahm strike the perfect balance between privacy and helpfulness/support. They provide loads of useful information about the area that made planning day trips much easier. I have no hesitation in recommending Matisse and am delighted to have met Maggie and Ahm, they made my road trip adventure through France all the more enjoyable. Thank you.

The property itself is superb in amenities, beauty, and convenience. The hosts are a kind, thoughtful, helpful and charming couple. The area is magical, having many medieval structures and wde, breathtaking vistas.I wish we could have stayed a month! (PS, you must tour Rocamadour. It was enchanting!)

We were greeted with warmth; our hosts were anxious that we know everything we might need to know. A welcome basket with wine, coffee, tea, some milk, crackers, cookies awaits you. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bed is comfortable and the bedroom spacious. The terrace is wonderful, sunny, with a large umbrella if needed, and almost even better ( since we hit a cool, rainy spell) is the glassed in area surrounded by plants and flowers. We spent hours there, enjoying the view, protected from the too cool breezes. Our hostess has prepared multiple, pages of suggested outings, plans, routes for the area. Having both an efficient washer and dryer was also very useful.
Downtown Sarlat is just 10 minutes away on foot, and besides the market on Saturday there is a Carrefour express and a Petite Casino grocery on the way back from town.
The apartment Matisse is gorgeous, and the grounds are full of sitting spaces and flowers, but made even better because of the genuine attentiveness of the hosts.
