Argyll Mansions is an imposing sandstone Victorian building with a prominent waterfront position. Beautifully presented and spacious, this 3rd floor three bedroom apartment oozes charm and elegance. It sleeps up to five, so is large enough for a family but is cosy enough for two and is centrally situated on the third floor of the prestigious, Category B listed building. Built between 1905/07, Argyll Mansions has been described as “one of Scotland’s finest tenements” and represents a late work by architect William Leiper, with stunning panoramic views over Oban Bay and the islands beyond of Kerrera, Mull & Lismore.
Everything is on your doorstep, from Oban’s many renowned restaurants in the town and surrounding area to its many curio shops and streets to keep you busy and entertained. There is also a two screen cinema and a leisure centre. Or you might enjoy taking a walk down to the beaches at Ganavan, or a short ferry trip to the Island of Kerrera with its very own castle, and in summer a Tearoom! Oban is known as the "Seafood Capital of Scotland" with a fishing boat fleet in the bay, a good range of seafood restaurants and an excellent fish shop, and it is also known as the “Gateway to the Isles” with its busy Calmac ferry terminal for trips to Mull, Colonsay, Mull, Tiree, Lismore and Barra.

As noted in the title, everything at your fingertips. Stunning views of harbour and mountains. Just a note for those with limited mobility - there are quite a few stairs involved but that pretty much was everywhere I stayed in Scotland. Overall, clean, beautiful and a very attentive host.

Its a beautiful old apartment with separate living-kitchen-dining rooms. I wholly recommend but do note that there are ~70 stairs to access, so not suitable for less mobile folks, there is only one bathroom/toiler and there is no associated parking (but there is cheap parking very nearby).

We felt lucky to be staying in such a lovely apartment in a prime location - fantastic views and right on the main street. Enjoyed some trips to Lismore, Mull and the local castles and beaches. Recommend the apartment and Oban.

Rather “puffed” after scaling 72 steps with our luggage, but the facilities once up there made us feel at home. The views of the bay, with ferries and other craft constantly on the move, were a joy to see. We explored the islands of Lismore, Kerrera and Easdale via the various small ferries in perfect summer weather. Dunollie Castle was an interesting place to visit, and the food excellent. The TV reception was poor though, ‘mosaics’ spoiling the picture. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy Oban and surrounding area once again.

A lovely property with excellent views. Great location in the town though the 72 steps and lack of parking are a challenge with bags. The oven thermostat didn’t seem to work so the oven got extremely hot. Overall a lovely apartment, a great place to stay and a lovely holiday. The information provided in the property was very good apart from the instructions about where to empty the bins.

Argyll Mansions , great location in the centre of Oban in an iconic building on the waterfront with beautiful views out over the bay , very comfortably furnished, spacious and clean, an excellent kitchen with necessary appliances , included good WIFI. We have scored location as 5 but would note that location is on the 3rd floor with stair access only which some may find a challenge. The apartment was very welcoming for the Christmas season in true festive spirit. We had a wonderful stay and would love to return and stay in this beautiful apartment.

Excellent apartment with fantastic views of Oban's main street, the harbour and adjacent islands. Something to see at all times! Apartment was very comfortable and roomy. Couldn't hear any neighbours at all. Great base to explore surrounding areas. Only drawback is the three flights of stairs when carrying luggage!

Accommodations were fantastic and the staff was exceptionally responsive during the booking process. We stayed five nights at the end of February in 2020, and part of what we enjoyed so much about our time in Oban was having Argyll Mansions as our home base. Just a short distance from the train station, ferry terminal, and lots of pubs, this is an ideal location. Many shops and cafes are nearby, too, so anything we needed was easily accessible. That said, not much was needed seeing as the apartment was stocked with amenities. The full kitchen, including washer and dryer, was very helpful. The area was safe and we had no troubles at all. We would very much recommend this place to anyone looking to travel to Oban.

This rental has beautiful views of Oban, is spacious and is just all around perfect for visiting Oban. From beautiful decor to a well appointed kitchen, a great central location and did I mention the views? I highly recommend this rental. Just be prepared for carrying luggage up the stairs. It’s well worth the climb.

We enjoyed our short break at Argyll Mansions. The apartment is in a great central location, you can walk everywhere even to the ferry terminal. The apartment is very comfortable and clean, and we had plenty of room for a family of 5. It has fantastic views and it is great to watch the ferries coming and going. We enjoyed going our for meals to the local restaurants, which were very nice. We took a day trip to Mull on the ferry and we took the bus to Tobermory. It was a great day trip. We also visited the distillery, went for walks along the front even in the rain! We went to the local swimming pool which the kids loved. We would love to return and visit some more of the islands. It is a beautiful part of the world with great scenery. The parking was not the best, and we had to move the car about a bit as most car parks only allowed 3 hour parking. We also found the 9.30 check out too early, and it was a rush to get out when the cleaner appeared at 9.45, she was very nice though and waited until we left. A later check out such as 10/10.30 might be better which most other places have. The stairs are quite steep, it was not a problem for us, but it would not be suitable for people who are not so mobile. All in all a great stay and we would return.

My wife, two children and mother stayed here for an enjoyable 2 week holiday. If you want a place to stay that is the centre of life for Oban than this is the place for you. On arrival the instructions that was given to access the apartment was clear and easy to understand. The apartment itself was clean, spacious and offered all the comfort of a home away from home; stylishly furnished and comfortable. The visitor book was helpful and gave lots of useful information. The apartment itself is a 5 minute (if that) walk from the ferry terminal and we enjoyed several trips to the Isle of Mull and wildlife trips from the harbour. We stayed on the third floor and the views overlooking the harbour and Kerrera was beautiful. Lots of walks from the apartment to various places, we walked to Dunollie Castle (30 minutes).

The 'Mossman' at Argyll Mansions was a wonderful experience. The 3 bedroom apartment was spacious, well equipped, clean with a view to die for. You could sit & look out of the window all day & see something different with a blink of an eye. The apartment is in an excellent central location, with everything on your doorstep. Shops, bars, restaurants and ferry terminal. Would certainly recommend this apartment and Westcoast Cottages to everyone. There is no lift & he stairs up to the apartment are a challenge at first, but you do get used to them. Don't be put off by them.

The location of Argyll Mansions could not be better; it's right in the centre of Oban, just yards from restaurants, shops, cafes, railway and bus stations, and the ferry terminal. There are lofty views over the busy harbour to Kerrera and, in the distance, Mull. The price to be paid is three flights of stairs to be climbed, so you need to be reasonably fit. The flat is posh Victorian in style, with comfortable modern furniture and a particularly well kitted-out kitchen. Two lightbulbs needed changing during our stay, but this was very quickly attended to by the owner. Car parking is a perennial issue in Oban, but we had no difficulty coping.

I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in Oban. The location is excellent and views are amazing. The apartment was beautiful and has everything you need. The beds are all very comfortable. There are three flights of stairs to get to the apartment but we were advised of this before booking. We only stayed the one night but would book again if we ever return to Oban.

Argyll Mansions was our perfect base to explore the western isles from Oban for a week in May. As well as the fantastic accommodation, we were blessed by 26 degrees sunny weather every day of our week stay. From our first communication with Samantha at West Coast Cottages we were very impressed by the attention to detail of our booking with young twins. The apartment and its rooms felt very homely and comfortable and it is huge, it actually had a regal feel with its high ceilings, period features and huge decorative fireplace. It had every modern amenity including quality TV, DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, superfast broadband etc. We highly recommend this quality apartment. Oh and the views over the harbour and islands are spectacular.

We were very lucky to win a competition to stay for one night in this apartment. Unfortunately we only wish we had more time off work to extend our stay as we soon felt at home. Oban is not a huge place but this apartment is central with views to die for. Samantha who the booking was with couldn't have been more helpful a personal thank you to her. The place was well presented, immaculate and seemed to have everything you would want including alternative family entertainment in board games if bad weather made you stay indoors. The kitchen seemed to have everything you would need, washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer, the list is endless. The visitors pack was warm, welcoming with all the information you would require for a safe stay and all the instructions for appliances. The apartment is on the third floor and is only accessible by stairs so if you are not the smallest of packers keep this in mind. There is no direct parking facilities for this apartment and in Oban generally it can be a nightmare it is well worth doing your homework before you go.

We stayed in the apartment on two occasions for a total of about three weeks. The living room and two main bedrooms have fantastic views over the centre of Oban harbour. The apartment is furnished to a very high standard and has all conveniences needed for a comfortable stay. The owners are extremely attentive and contacted us to ensure we were comfortable. The property is superbly placed however having to park a considerable distance away was a pain. Also dropping our belongings off on arrival was a challenge as the property is up 3 flights of very steep stairs. Thankfully a kindly neighbour helped us. We still had a great hliday though and would definitely book the property again.

Pretty apartment at the centre of Oban. The reception was poor, but because the tourist office is across the street you can find all the advice you need for you stay nearby. Besides this, it is a lovely apartment which we recommend to anyone who like to visit Oban. Bear in mind that you need to park your car pretty far away (1 km) if you don't use it every day, because all parking lots nearby have a maximum parking time between 2 and 24 hours.
