About this farm stay rental

This lovely farmhouse - on an ancient estate - is ideally situated in the verdant hills of Torre, between Lucca (4 miles) and the coast (with the sandy beaches of Versilia, Forte dei Marmi's shops and nightlife, and Pietrasanta's art galleries). It has been restored with integrity: antique terracotta tiled floors, wooden beamed ceilings and is well furnished in a country style. On the ground floor, there is a large entrance lounge, a spacious kitchen with modern conveniences, a pantry, and a bathroom with shower. Old terracotta stairs lead up to the first floor with 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, and an elegant bathroom. Private garden with panoramic views of Lucca and the hills (guests here can simply sit back, relax and enjoy the view), garden chairs and table, umbrella, beach chairs, pergola of Isabella grapes, parking. Free WIFI. Fabulous position for walking and cycling. Trips to Pisa, Florence, San Gimignano, Chianti, Siena, Cinque Terre, Portofino. Lucca – the nearest city – really is one of Tuscany's best-kept secret. Within its majestic walls, its Roman and medieval heart is a medley of piazzas, tiny churches, art galleries and cobbled lanes; a place, in the words of Henry James, 'overflowing with everything that makes for ease, for plenty, for beauty, for interest and good example'. (The farmhouse is not suitable for disabled or reduced mobility people.)

Simply awesome, great historic house renovated with very much care, good location near Lucca (but you really need a car) and extremely friendly and caring owner. Totally satisfied. My only criticism is that Fewo-direkt had technical problems regarding the payment and reservation. I had to talk to the support several times, that was really annoying and timeconsuming.

A beautifully presented property, with all modern conveniences yet true to its historic character and very tastefully furnished and decorated. Ilide was a most attentive and helpful host, providing suggestions for activities and places to visit that we would not have been aware of otherwise. We will definitely return.

We stayed on the house for a week with the family and had a wonderful time. The house is in a quiet location and an excellent base to visit Lucca, Florence, the beach and go hiking. The old house has character and there is a nice garden (we woke up from the sound of a group of wild boars eating the hazelnuts at night!). Ilide is a very helpful and responsive host.

Upon arrival we were greeted by our lovely host Ilide who explained everything thoroughly to us regarding the property. The house is in an ideal location, with lovely views over the hillside and a short 15 minute drive from Lucca. I have given 4 stars for location only due to the small parking space at the property which is quite steep, this would have been fine for a smaller car (our car is quite large). I believe there was also some parking available in the adjacent olive grove. The property is very clean and extremely well equipped with plenty of storage in each of the bedrooms however, no hanging space. We were aware from previous reviews that the stairs were extremely steep which we found fine however, some people with mobility issues may find these difficult but as this is a very old house it is only to be expected. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the property.

The house, which I would consider more of a farmhouse than a "villa," is charming in a minimalist and tasteful way. The view from the front of the house, where there are chairs to sit and enjoy it, is beautiful and peaceful. And our hosts, Ilide and Antonio were the best! Always immediately responsive to any questions or concerns. We were all over 70 and found the steep steps. to the second floor a little problematic at first, although we adjusted. We were also a little disappointed in the remoteness of the location and the long, single lane, twisty road to get there. Lucca was fairly simple to get into, although taking day trips elsewhere meant having to ge through heavy Lucca traffic.

The house and location are both beautiful - one of the most beautiful places ive stayed. Also incredobly peaceful - the loudest noiise waa bird song. Its an old house and therefore you have to be comfortable about that - the wifi wasnt always strong and not all my adaptors fitted the plugs - you need adaptors with thin prongs not the thicker ones. But i would love to go again.

We spent wonderful days in Ilide's tastefully furnished Tuscan house. The location is wonderful as a starting point for day trips to the sea or other Tuscan cities. Ilide's tips on restaurants, horseback riding and fishing were also very helpful. Thank you for everything!

We had a great time in this beautifull Tuscan house. It's close to Lucca and other highlights. We also went seveveral times to the beach. Coming home after a day trip we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the house and the garden with it's beautifull view. The owner was very friendly and helpfull and gave us tips about restaurants, best beaches etc.

This is such a nice place to stay. Peaceful and rustic, a really authentic Tuscan house. Ilide and Antonio are such nice people and a great help to you. Even though it was cool and raining some it was still great. The garden is really beautiful. Lucca is really special town, and you are close to the Ligurian seaside as well. I recommend it to anyone. We can't wait to go back.

Ci siamo innamorati di questo angolo meraviglioso delle colline toscane, appartato e tranquillo, ma al tempo stesso a 5 minuti di auto dal centro storico di Lucca. Il paesaggio è bellissimo, oliveti e vigneti, con una splendida vista sulla città. La casa, accogliente e spaziosa, risale al Cinquecento ed è il tipico rustico toscano, completamente ristrutturato e arredato con molto gusto. Il giardino è l’ideale per rilassarsi nel verde e per prendere il sole in completa privacy. I proprietari, che vivono nella villa della tenuta, sono stati sempre gentilissimi e disponibili per indicazioni, suggerimenti, prenotazioni senza mai essere invadenti. Inoltre, la casa si è rivelata perfetta per andare alla scoperta di tutte le città d’arte della Toscana: siamo andati a Pisa, Firenze, Pietrasanta (deliziosa), Barga, Pistoia, San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra. Abbiamo visitato anche le cave di marmo di Carrara (impressionanti), Portovenere, le Cinque Terre e Portofino. Ogni tanto, per riposarci, abbiamo fatto una giornata di mare in Versilia, sulla spiaggia libera del Parco Naturale della Lecciona, oppure qualche bella passeggiata fra gli oliveti, sui sentieri che dalla casa arrivano fino in cima alle colline di Torre, da dove si vede il mare. E poi Lucca è splendida, le mura antiche, le stradine medievali, i bei negozi, senza contare che si mangia molto bene e per fortuna ha ancora pochi turisti. Due settimane sono volate, vogliamo tornare al più presto!

The owners of this property are charming and very helpful. They have maintained the house in a very rustic fashion but still with comfort. It is a wonderful spot to return to after a day in Lucca and all the surrounding villages. The views are wonderful and the silence is so relaxing . The gardens are lovely...would not hesitate to return

The positives: - the beautiful view - the experience of a traditional land Tuscany house - close to Lucca and beautiful beaches The negatives: - the most annoying thing was the reconstruction noise from the neighbour house, appearing from early hours (ca from 7:30) - during the night we were disturbed by woodworms noise - the ground floor of the house is wet, even in July (it improved after one week of open windows...on our leaving day) - both ground floor and first floor rooms are quite dark, which is not visible from house photos (the pics of the premises were made with lights on) - steep stairs to the first floor Summary: The house is not suitable for guests, who prefer a comfort accommodation during a Tuscany holiday. A quite bad "cost - benefit ratio", according to our experience from another house that we rented next week of our Tuscany stay. We required a discount for the inconveniences (reconstruction) and it was provided only in the amount of "costs for gas for heating" (despite we did not heat at all).

Really lovely location in the hills. House has been renovated to a high standard. Lovely place to spend days at home in the garden, having a barbecue and relaxing but also convenient for daytrips to Lucca or the beach. The family were really welcoming and helpful and sorted out the WiFi efficiently. The house doesn’t have an oven - so if you want to do lots of cooking then not ideal. Has dishwasher and all other mod cons though. Overall a great place to stay.

My family spent 4 nights in this lovely, rustic, charming adorable mountain retreat a few miles outside of Lucca that turned out to be the gem of our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed this warm home and our host couldn’t have been more accommodating without being meddlesome. The property is ideal to feel relaxed and immersed in Italian culture, and a scenic, easy drive into Lucca, which itself is amazing and very enjoyable. From Lucca, we completed several day trips. Each evening it felt wonderful to come home to our home away from away. I could’ve stayed there for another week or two and left the crowded cities, cramped hotels, over-priced resturant’s and played out touristy places for this lovely hideaway any day! A little difficult to locate (definitely need GPS on your phone or car) but great place and value! Recommend it whole heartedly.

Our family of six adults had the best time staying at Ilide’s charming Tuscany cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped and all her appliances work great! If you are looking for a truely rustic Tuscany stay this place is perfect! Ms. Ilide is a lovely and wonderful host with great recommendations for restaurants in Lucca and nearby towns. She answered all our questions and was always available to help. The linens were superb and hot water plentiful for showers. We loved the garden with wild flowers and greeneries. In the morning it was a joy drinking coffee on the patio watching the sunlight shine on the mountains nearby and beautiful homes scattered amongst the hills and trees. We truly appreciate Ilides hospitality and enjoyed our stay at the cottage immensely

We settled in to a throwback in history home for 3 weeks. The charm of the original beams, floors, and stonework was certainly appreciated. We used the farmhouse as a home base to visit Lucca-just 10 minutes away, the beach area 35 minutes away, Pisa, Cinque Terre, Venice, and a number of small towns within the surrounding area. Ilide was a wonderful host helping us with questions and suggestions of places to visit. We left falling in love with the rental and the area.

We stayed a week in this wonderful property. It consists of an original medieval house, with a 'new' section remodeled 400 years ago. Staying here is as close as you can get to a time once forgotten, by the countryside, where the wine grows, nature abounds and locals become friends. Illide, the property owner, is very nice and attentive. Highly recommended for the romantic couple or family looking for a true Tuscan experience.

I loved this place. I've stayed in Tuscany a number of times, this was the first north of Lucca though. Nice area, plenty of country to explore and not too great a trek to the obvious spots. Loved the house, full of genuine character and well appointed. The owner is very keen for you to have a lovely time and goes to great effort to ensure it. Heartily recommended!

Von dort aus kann man zahlreiche Ausflüge in die Umgebung unternehmen: nach Lucca, in die Stadt der 100 Kirchen, mit ihrem Mauerring und ihrem Antiquitätenmarkt, in die prächtigen Villen der Lucchesia, nach Pisa und an die Küstenorte sowie die langen Sandstrände der Versilia, nach Florenz und ins Chianti-Gebiet und vieles mehr ... Die einzelnen Zimmer des weitläufigen Hauses, von dem aus man einen großartigen Blick auf die umliegenden toskanischen Hügel genießt, sind mit viel Geschmack und Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Im Garten kann man es sich gemütlich machen, die Ruhe und den landschaftlichen Rahmen genießen, draußen essen und grillen. Die Böden sind mit alten Terrakotta-Fliesen ausgelegt, die Decken mit dunklen Holzbalken verkleidet. Erhaltungszustand, Sauberkeit und Service sind einwandfrei und entsprechen völlig der gegebenen Beschreibung. Ilide Carmignani,die Vermieterin, hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen und hilfreiche Ratschläge für unsere Ausflüge gegeben. Great location with stunning, unspoilt views of the countryside, but close enough to the lovely town of Lucca. Villa is really rustic and quaint. Tastefully restored and with all the amenities you need. We just had a few issues. Firstly, the lack of comfortable garden furniture to enjoy the garden. Secondly, there appeared to be bugs in the roof (woodworm??) which were quite noisy particularly at night. Thirdly, the lack of a clean coffee machine. Finally, we would have appreciated a bit more information on local restaurants and activities. But overall a really pleasant and enjoyable stay. Thank you!
