Griya Backpacker Pak yon

Ricky was an amazing host. He is a very kind person who will make you feel that you are with family. Totally recomended. The bedroom was very comfortable and the house is located in a lovely neighborhood.

The owner of the place is a really kind person and his atention makes you feel like you are in home.

This is more a family homestay so if you’d like to see how real Indonesian people live, this is a great option. We didn’t get to meet Rigky, but his mum was very hospitable and welcoming despite her limited English. She cooked us breakfast on the day of our arrival.

We booked this accommodation based on reviews and photos, but I have to say these were very misleading and things were not as they seemed. I don’t like giving disparaging reviews but the truth needs to be known especially as so many tourists rely on this for transparency. I will give you a clearer picture. Sure, it was a cheap option … you get what you pay for. Firstly there is no signage for Griya Backpacker Pak Yon and the location was in a residential area and was actually not that easy to find due to the lack of signage. The house was big, and if you are particular about the condition of where you stay, this may cause you distress, as this was the case with my husband who could not accept the level of cleanliness and had to seek alternative accommodation for the night. The good thing is we didn’t find any bedbugs, but the place really needed a good clean. The toilet is mandi style and there was only a cold shower. Not sure if we were supposed to wait for any hot water to heat up but we didn’t have a hot shower there. All this did not concern myself or my young adult children, as we had a restful night sleep regardless. I have posted photos of the actual accommodation. The ones x3 see on the website are are Rigky entertaining guests at other locations around Malang. They are not of the house which is what I was under the impression it was.
