Nestled in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages of Deux-Sèvres, Maison Arouet opens its doors to you in a haven of peace, relaxation and well-being.
This historic 16th century house owes its name to the ancestors of Voltaire who inhabited it and even today you will find all the charm of the time there: half-timbered, carved stone arches and doors, spiral staircase, floors in stone and medieval tiles, old parquet floors, mullioned windows…
Agnes and Didier will be pleased to welcome you there to facilitate your stay in a soothing setting in the spirit of a family home with an elegant and refined atmosphere. Thanks to the house’s new 100 m² spa area, you will also be invited to moments of absolute relaxation and well-being with family or friends for a weekend or an extended getaway.
By pushing its doors, you can only be won over by its friendly and carefully decorated interior and by the splendor of the rooms that decorate it:
- Its large living room: the perfect place to relax and meet up with family or friends and enjoy peaceful moments by the fireplace.
- Its kitchen open to the dining room where you will benefit from a friendly space equipped with all the equipment to prepare dishes with the delicious local products.
- in the evening, the four bedrooms invite you to enjoy a sweet and restful night in an elegant and refined atmosphere that gives the house peace and serenity.
For more festive moments, you will also have a Cinema Blue Ray projection room with a large video library, a bar area and a mini dance hall.
Outside, its 3000 m² park, surrounded by old stone walls, invites you to walk, read and relax with various furnished spaces but also to play with different equipment for children (ping-pong table , trampoline, badmington and voley net, shuffleboard and pétanque ....)
In summer, you can enjoy the rays of the sun on the Zen lounge or on the deckchairs by the swimming pool, heated from April to October, will welcome young and old. The large summer kitchen, covered and perfectly equipped, will allow you to grill for good convivial moments and sharing with family or friends over the seasons.

Our family of 7 (including 10 & 13 year olds & a Nana) plus our 3 dogs, stayed in late July in this pretty, peaceful village. The owner was very welcoming and the house is so very well and generously equipped with everything you’d need and more! A beautiful, vast property with many lovely spaces to enjoy. We loved the gym, then the garden terrace for coffee in the morning; the outdoor dining room for breakfast then the pool during the day in the sun, and had several bbqs by the pool area. The cinema room was great of an evening to chill in watching a film. A very old property, very tastefully furnished, perfect for a couple of families. It is a historic site, so of interest to passers by at the front of the house, but this is not an issue. It is very safe as is completely walled, so our dogs raced around the large garden very happily with no fear of them escaping. There is a large trampoline, ping pong table, plus swings, slide and football nets, so the children were well entertained when not in the pool. The restaurant and wine bar in the village were lovely, both allowing our dogs to sit with us. We also visited the local Parc de Vallee, a little theme park, which was very reasonable and well worth a trip with our girls. We didn’t get to go on the river out the back of the property, but there are pedalos and kayaks available which we saw others using. A fabulous and restful break away which we would recommend highly. Maison historique très bien équipée notamment pour les loisirs dans village au calme et avec un grand parc reposant. Nombreuses attentions des propriétaires qui assurent un très bon accueil.

The house was incredible...really old with a wonderful stone spiral staircase but with everything you could need for a great holiday...including an amazing spa! The rooms were large and cool , the gardens beautiful, and a lovely sheltered pool ... we actually had no need to go anywhere! It is a beautifully quiet village but with a good local shop and a couple of restaurants as well as canoeing/ pedaloes just round the corner. Agnès and Didier were very nearby and responded very quickly to any enquiries or minor problems. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the property as a holiday home. Sue K

Nous avons passé de belles vacances en famille début juillet en compagnie de nos 2 enfants. Nous ne nous sommes pas ennuyés dans cette grande maison magnifique, nous avons profité du confort de la maison, piscine, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, salle de cinéma,... Le spa est moderne, neuf, tout est fourni: serviettes en grande quantité, même dans chaque chambre, il y en a + que nécessaire, de belles attentions aussi des propriétaires (charmants) qui nous ont laissé bcp de confiseries, fruits, déjeuners, brioche, madeleines, dosettes de café... Tout est à dispo: lessives, pastilles lave-vaisselle, etc ...
Nous ne nous sommes pas ennuyés, même quand le temps n'était pas au grand beau. Nous avons fait bcp de vélos avec nos enfants sur des petites routes tranquilles, et fait des randonnées autour du lac du Cébron.
Le village est très jolie niché dans un écrin de verdures, où s’écoule le Thouet jonché de nénuphars, l'endroit se prête au repos.
La maison se trouve dans une ruelle où boulangerie et petit commerce et restaurants s'y côtoient, et tout prêt le château qui vaut le détour.
Nous sommes enchantés d'avoir eu le privilège de passer nos vacances dans cette magnifique demeure chargée d'histoire, je conseille vivement l'endroit.
