About this house rental

Jessica & Geordy at your disposal; ) Boy of the country and girl of the ocean (Atlantic), we threw ourselves body and soul in the restoration of our house in the years 2010 and make it enjoy to vacationers for more than 10 years. Lovers of our Périgord Noir and the jewels of the Dordogne valley, we are happy to share with you our haven of peace, nestled in the hollow of Castelnaud, between the church and the castle, just 10 km from the medieval city of Sarlat, surrounded by remarkable tourist sites and a generous nature, to offer you a bubble of air in our tumultuous world.
Discreet and available we would be happy to welcome you and advise you on the addresses not to miss during your stay.

This house of the XVII is an old dependence of the castle of Castelnaud, opening on a very pretty little garden.

We are passionate self-builders and have restored this house with love and the precious help of our local artisan friends. Committed to authenticity, we have kept as many original elements as possible, such as the beautiful fireplace, beams and parquet flooring, while integrating modern and sustainable solutions, such as the installation of a pellet stove two years ago.
This house, originally built with the stones of the internationally known castle of Castelnaud (destroyed before being restored), testifies to the history and charm of the region. Transformed over the years, it now offers a unique space on three floors: the current kitchen was once a cellar, the living room on the second floor was separated into two rooms, and the bedroom was an attic.

We have preferred natural materials such as wood and stone, in order to create a warm and authentic atmosphere, conducive to relaxation and reconnection with the essential.

If you go down the village (5 minutes walk) you will find a delicious bakery, a butcher with very good products but also restaurants, the Post office, a canoe rental club and a bike rental that will allow you, if you feel like it, to discover our Périgord in a different way.
You will be in the heart of multiple activities and tourist sites.
Beginning of cycle path greenway down the village, canoe rental to discover our beautiful region on the water, multitude of hiking trails all around the village from the house.
Swimming in our beautiful Dordogne, gabarre, climbing site,...
Feet on the ground, enjoy the ballet of hot air balloons, or treat yourself to a unique trip in the air on board.
From castles, to troglodytic villages, mansions to bastides, you will not be bored whatever the weather... You can also discover the prehistoric Périgord, and in particular the cave of Lascaux 2 and 4 about forty kilometers , Font de Gaume, Bernifal, the chasms (Padirac, Prouleyssac,...), ...
You will be full of the view in the French gardens of Marqueyssac facing the castle of Castelnaud, you can fill up with nuts at the Walnut Komusee 500 meters from the house,...
You will also be able to choose to have a relaxing time in the hollow of the village, in your holiday home or in its verdant setting; )

We would be happy to discuss this with you if you wish. We can guide you in the choice of your visits but also guide you as to the choice of restaurants, tourist sites and places not to be missed.

We accept dogs but under the condition that it stays exclusively in the kitchen (which opens to the garden) and that its excrements are collected inside and outside. We have unfortunately had some bad experiences and we are counting on your understanding to respect these rules. Thank you!

This home is just as it looks in the photos on the site. It is comprised of a small fenced yard and three floors: Ground Floor is the eat-in kitchen with a nice electric oven/range and nicely equipped collection of cooking and dining items, plus the refrigerator and a wood pellet stove. Also on that floor is a toilet and a washing machine (no dryer). Second floor is the living room with couch, easy chairs, table, and TV. Third floor is the bedroom with toilet, shower and sink at one end. The bed is pretty low to the ground (maybe mattress top is 12" off the floor...challenging for our 83-year-old bones to get up during the night and in the morning. The total of 30+ stairs up and down plus the short but modestly steep hill from the church parking area where you must park meant that we were not totally happy with the "exercise" each day. So this is just a warning for mobility challenged renters. The comment book was filled with happy reports from (clearly younger) tenants over the years. Take this as it is meant...just a warning for seniors with mobility issues. Overall, we loved our stay and recommend it for those who love this historic area. The neighbors, by the way, were very friendly and neighbor Kelly, in particular, helped make our move-in easier!

Exceptional home in such a gorgeous place. From day one of our two week stay, we were so happy with the location and and all that the home offers. Excellent kitchen supplies, comfortable bed & sitting areas, good shower, and thoughtfully decorated throughout. The outdoor area was just perfect as it perched over the walking path up to the castle, but was also very private. Parking ended up being easy, but best way to find the house was following the signs to the church from the road—house is just up from the church. Restaurants, bakery, and butcher all within walking distance. This is one of the most unique and well loved places we have stayed and will be anxious to come back someday!
