About this house rental

The Olive House is situated on the edge of the tranquil country village of Gaino on the first ridge of the hills surrounding Lake Garda. The property forms part of the traditional, old Italian village with stone and clay tile terraced housing forming an intriguing network of mysterious narrow alleys and piazzas.

The property consists of two, 3 story terraced apartments with semi basements. The two apartments have lockable, interleading doors and thus have the possibility for two families to share the accommodation while still maintaining family privacy. There is one big kitchen at semi basement level leading out onto a courtyard and one big living room on the main street level. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms are on the first and second floors with one extra bedroom on the ground floor. All are spacious bedrooms with picture postcard views from the windows and lead out onto balconies over looking the lake or the village roof tops. The house has been renovated internally recently but it is an integral part of the ancient Italian village of Gaino and still maintains this Italian village charm and identity with a sensitive mix of modern and antique furniture and artefacts.

Please note that when booking you get exclusive use of The Olive House with garden and pool, no other guests reservations would be taken.

There are many activities in the area, both near and far. Walk out the door for a café on the village piazza or for a morning excursion up to the top of Monte Castello or head down to the river valley and visit the paper Museum(Museo della Carta) to peruse the ancient artefacts of the Roman era, when the valley was the European centre of papermaking. You could also explore the rock cataracts upstream where the river cuts its way through the valley rock or get up early and fish for trout. Our children have never come back with less than five decent sized trout!

There is a riding stable 5 minutes walk away where you can organize anything from a morning ride into the hills to a 5 day trek into the alps.

A 15min walk will bring you to the Bogliaco golf club that has a tradition starting in 1912. It is worth having a look at its website to give you a feel for the beauty of the area.

Of course you could also just partake in some sun therapy on the sun loungers at the poolside with an occasional cool dip to take the edge off the heat.

We look forward to hearing from you, if you wish to stay with us. Do email if you have any further questions and we will be more than happy to help.

For the comfort of all our guests, this is a pet free and non smoking property.

The (pair of adjoining) houses are great and the pool house, garden and pool are particularly lovely. A great location for a pair of families or a group of friends to holiday. Only one thing I would call out, take a small car. The streets are very thin in the area and we came away with some scratches on our SUVs as a result.

We had an excellent week in the Olive House. The house, very large garden and pool are very nice and well maintained. The place is quiet and peaceful. The only problem we found is that the access to the house is difficult due to the very narrow old streets at the end of the road. We had to park our car at 200/300mts and walk to the house. Overall, we passed a great time in the house….

We had a wonderful week at this lovely house. The owners and Lourdes the house keeper were very helpful and solved any small problems we had very quickly. The road to the house is extremely narrow for us brits, so I’d recommend a small hire car! The main house is across a very small street from the garden/pool so if you come with small kids then I’d bring a good baby monitor. We lived in the pool house and the gardens, which had everything we needed and we only used the main house for bed time. The views are stunning, Gargnano and toscolano were perfect for us and the family. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we hope to return!

Two traditional houses in a traditional Italian village- narrow streets. The locals are lovely, the view is to die for and a great base to explore the lake. If you get chance take a boat trip with salvatory from maderno around the island, swim at rabbit island and visit Simone. The village has a lively coffee shop and bakery - madero has several great restaurants and Salo is worth exploring for a night out.

We had a wonderful stay in this nice, quiet and clean house in a beautiful village right next to Lake Garda. A bar for breakfast coffee ist a nice, short stroll away, great trails for walking, hiking, biking or running start directly at the property. But of really very special beauty is the meticulously maintained garden with old olive trees, oleander and a spatious lawn. There, the pool with poolhouse, kitchen and a shower is located. We spent most of our time just enjoying the place. The garden with pool makes the stay at this property absolutely memorable. The pictures in the ad don't really do this gem justice- we were very pleasantly surprised when we saw the real thing. Driving through the narrow alleys pose a nice but somewhat nerve wrecking challenge - fortunately one can park the car at a spot five minutes walk away without the necessity to navigate through the ancient streets. Altogether, we enormously enjoyed our stay.

Need to drive everywhere, kids all got rash from using pool so didn’t us it for 2nd half of our stay, it looked clean but think too much chlorine. We also had a couple of item’s disappear from pool area when they got left out overnight. Don’t go in summer as no air con and it’s unbearable. If travelling with kids I wouldn’t recommend this side of the lake as there’s not that much for them to do especially older children. The other side near Garda is much better!

Beautiful grounds and views. WIFI however is inadequate. It's the equivalent of dial up and so you can't count on it to do any important work. Otherwise a lovely stay
