La Villa Resort Pignola

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They went beyond their requirements and guided us through out our 4 day visit. They made the region come alive.

I went out of the way to visit Pignola since it was my grandfather's birthplace. The old town is on a steep hill and the narrow streets with very old houses. Not many tourists visit this town, locals asked why we were there and after I explained the reason asked my last name and mentioned that there still people in town with my family name. But since my grandfather left more than 120 years ago for Uruguay South America nobody would remember him or his family. Vincenzo was very kind and helpful.

A beautiful location, especially good if you have a car and wants to take day trips. Nice lunch at the hotel. Large comfortable rooms. A warm helpful welcome. A lovely terrace to sit on. The staff is very helpful and accomodating when you ask for something, but since there's a language problem we had some difficulties.

There's a language problem if you don't speak Italian. The staff were friendly but only the young men working there could speak English. We stayed at the room / on the terrace during siesta, and that was of course during cleaning hours, but the cleaner could have asked us if we could leave for a few minutes, or when she could come back, and we as well could have communicated - as a result on non-communication, however, our room wasn't cleaned for two days during our five night stay. Something to work on for the hotel I think. The hotel also have parties/events, which of course is nice, but our last night there was an 18-year celebration party, which ended very late, and after the party ended the staff talked (which they of course can and shall do). However, we didn't fall asleep until 3 o'clock at night that day, and were very tired when we should drive on. And the first night/morning there was a family with five children in the room next to us (there's only four rooms) so we woke up very early. Yes, you can hear everything between the rooms. Breakfast was tea or coffee and cake. I can't eat gluten or lactose, and was offered an apple the first day. Then I brought my own stuff. When we had lunch one day I had glutenfree pasta and was offered gluten-free bread. So they had it! I then asked for it my last two breakfasts, and got warm glutenfree bread. I still wonder why they didn't offer that the first day :-)

La gentilezza di Giulio è stata incredibile, tuttavia avevamo scelto questa struttura poiché indicava la presenza di un ristorante sempre aperto e così non era invece, poiché era completamente chiuso. Detto questo, abbiamo ovviato in qualche modo, quando siamo arrivati i termosifoni non partivano, ma ancora una volta segnalato il problema, Giulio si è adoperato per risolverlo.
