House and room was clean and comfortable. If you love old homes, you’ll LOVE this place. Each room has been updated to include a toilet and either a bath or shower. Main shared room is large and included reading materials, toys, and games. The dining room was large and comfortable.
We weren’t sure where to check in, a sign in the parking area guiding guests to the front door would help BUT it wasn’t hard to figure out, just a bit unclear.

Lovingly and thoughtfully decorated and especially liked the themes assigned to the rooms as well as the many books available to us that were pertinent to the local history
Though the room we were assigned had historical significance the bedroom was very tight.
We would suggest booking one of the king size bedrooms

The property is historic and quaint. The historic elements are its appeal. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and within walking distance to downtown (about 10 min). We booked the Charles Champlain “Suite”. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and was decorated well but incredibly small, there was only space for the bed, night stands and a small bench that would hold a single suitcase. The bathroom was nicely appointed with luxury bath items, a nice shower with good water pressure although temperature was difficult to control. There was no fan & the windows didn’t open so ventilation was a problem.
There was free parking although the parking space was awkward, it was adequate. While clearly there was an entrance near the parking area, one had to navigate around a gravel parking lot, a fenced area and up the stairs to the front door for entrance.
I did not use the pool facilities so I cannot comment on those facilities. The tv service provided was Roku.
The description of the room was dishonest. There was no coffee/tea maker or coffee provided in any form although it is listed as a “most popular facility”. The availability of a kettle/ coffee maker so that I can make something I provide is the least I expect. Both were listed as amenities but were not provided.
The room looked out over an asphalt roof. The only “view” was from a bathroom window looking onto a garden. I wasn’t booking for a view so it didn’t matter to me but might matter to others.
This is definitely not a beachfront property. It is within walking distance of the lake (maybe 15 min).
Both the proprietor and Booking.com should make clear & be honest about what is included and what is not, what amenities are specific to the room and what is a shared facility and, if shared, what hours those facilities are available. I posed these questions before arriving & they were not clearly answered.
The room was sweltering hot when we entered. It was about 93 degrees outside and the room was probably 87 degrees or warmer. We were able to get it cooled down by turning up the small air conditioning unit which made it bearable. It was probably 83 degrees after an hour or so. It never got truly cool. I think the unit was too small for the area it was trying to cool. I do not do well in heat, so I debated leaving early and forfeiting the fees just so I could find a cool and comfortable place to stay.
Getting around the bed was a tight squeeze. I would never call this a “suite”. Another small room off the bed space had two chairs & a table which was all there was room for. You could not close the door between the bedroom area & sitting area because you would have no air conditioning in the sitting area or in the bathroom off of the sitting area, so if booking to have a separate room to not disturb another it doesn’t work.
Check-in was a bit strange. I had emailed ahead because an odd check-in had been noted by others.
