About this cabin rental

Benefiting from easy access to the M4 - Junction 34 - this self catering, self contained pine lodge has much to offer guests wishing to relax and unwind in a rural setting. Nesting in the hamlet of Castellau, it is centrally situated for Cardiff, the Rhondda Valleys, Brecon Beacons and coastal areas. Ideal for the Eisteddfod in Pontypridd. The historic town of Llantrisant with restaurants, gift and coffee shops is within easy reach. Close to hand are the Rhondda Heritage Park, the Welsh Folk Museum at St. Fagans, the Royal Mint experience as well as an abundance of castles. To the north within a 45 minute drive are the Brecon Beacons, Zip World and waterfalls. To the south the Glamorgan Heritage coast offering superb walking terrain amidst some wonderful scenery. Equipped with all the basic essentials, the lodge serves as a comfortable, cosy base for those wishing to get out and about exploring the local area or just relax, unwind and recharge your batteries in a rural setting. Quiet, rural location with no passing traffic, a stay here can be as busy or as leisurely as you like. Electric by way of £1 or £2 meter. Free wifi.

The cabin was small but very lovely and quaint. Needs a different sofa but other than that a brilliant weekend.

We were a little nervous on arrival as the weather was quite bad, but the Alpine lodge lived up to its name and didn't take much money on the meter to keep it warm for us. Rita showed us around and explained everything, and seems to have thought it all through for guests. Several planned walks round about but we didn't take them as we went into the city mostly. We had a tour of the Royal Mint nearby which was very interesting. Plenty of hot water for the shower so it all worked out fine for us.

We had a very nice time in Alpine Lodge. From there we could reach numerous sights. The accommodation was simple, but very cosy and the price was very acceptable. When we had a minor problem with the wifi Rita was very helpful.

Found the lodge easily and arrived to a contactless checkin. The lodges are well placed so you have the feeling on seclusion and lovely view outside. The ducks are a cute little bonus to have out front as you go for a walk. With being a short drive to Cardiff and Barry we were able to go for some days out while also having an evening stroll down the lanes. Overall a lovely stay and would definitely recommend others to stay.

Me and my husband really loved our stay the lodge was very well presented, very clean which I loved had everything we needed to cook on the kitchen area. The bedroom was very cosy as-well as spacious had the best sleep. Loved the location very peaceful and out of the way, beautiful nature around us. Overall the nicest lodge I’ve stayed at, was a lovely experience perfect of your looking to have a break and cut off from the rest of the world. Thank you Rita we’ve had a wonderful time in wales.

Lovely little cabin in the middle of nowhere! Information book was very helpful and had lots of suggestions of things to do. There was tea and a packet of biscuits on arrival which was super cute, would highly recommend if wanting to go somewhere to relax and unwind!

Stunning location, so peaceful and private but only a 5 minute drive to local shops for essentials. Cottage was homely and cosy, plenty big enough for two adults, all on one level with good access for someone with limited mobility. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom perfectly serviceable and the kitchen had the basics covered. The outside space is gorgeous, especially in the warm weather. Would 100% recommend and would love to visit again.

We had a fantastic rest and recharged our batteries with the weather playing along. There are two TV's with basic channels, but download your own favourite movies and series beforehand, as the network coverage not always great. We'll be back! Thank you Rita.

This is the first time that my wife and I have stayed in an alpine lodge and didnt really know what to expect. The directions that were given were easy to follow and when we arrived we were met by the owner who was very friendly and helpful. The lodge is very small but cosy at the same time. The bedroom was large and the bed was very comfortable. Cooking facilities were very basic but everything was there. Electric was by means as a pay meter and we added five pounds which easily lasted the three nights we were there and left a few pounds in credit. Very peaceful area close to Cardiff. Tesco superstore and other large shops only five miles away. Small village shops only a mile or so away. Great lodge for a short break or as a base. Would book again.

We absolutely loved our stay here! It was so lovely and secluded, a beautiful outdoor sitting area at the cabin we stayed in, the sofa was so comfortable I wish I could of taken it home with me!
