Villa Buen Retiro

Owners very responsive, attentive and helpful. One of the cleanest properties I’ve stayed at.

Elisabetta was incredible. We were travelling by public transport with 2 young kids (1 & 4), and she kindly offered to set up a comfy cot and a high chair in the villa, even without us asking. Travelling by public transport in Puglia can be complicated, but Elisabetta's help and advice was magnificent. The location was just what we were looking for. A 5 minute bus ride to the beach, the train station just a 20 minute walk from the villa (connections to Bari, Lecce, Ostuni station, Monopoli), and surrounded by olive groves on all sides for running and cycling. For anyone driving, the towns of Cisternino, Locorotondo and Alberobello are also within easy reach. The village also has everything you need (minimarket, greengrocers', bakers', post office, newsagents'). Something we hadn't appreciated online was the diversity of living spaces: a front porch, a large poolside patio and a rooftop terrace (as well as the indoor living room/dining room) meant we could find somewhere to relax at all times of day (usually front porch when sun was high, poolside when sun was low, and rooftop for evenings). The lighting is really well designed too.

From the moment Elisabetta welcomed us with warm focaccia fresh from the village bakery and showed us around our home for the week, we knew we would find it hard to leave at the end of our stay. She has thoughtfully created a tasteful and stylish home with many extra touches which shows how much she cares that guests have a fabulous stay. Villa Buen Retiro is in a great location for exploring and we loved all Elisabetta’s recommendations of places to visit and to eat. She was happy to make table reservations for us too, in fact nothing was too much trouble for her. We made use of the bicycles provided and especially enjoyed the guided bike ride through the olive trees with her. Thank you Elisabetta, we had the best time.
