We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Conveniently close to the bigger cities but located in a charming small town on the river Rijn. Kitchen was stocked with the basic "necessities" and grocery store within walking distance. Parking close by. Our host Dirk instantly responded to any inquiries.

This property is an amazing find, we could not believe it when we arrived. Dirk and Suzan have been amazing hosts. They have prepared a very detailed listing including where to find plugs to light fixtures. My kids enjoyed the bike around town, and we also used the paddle boat to get around the water right in the back side of the house. We have diet restrictions, so cooked at the place some nights, there is a grocery store within walking distance. The house is properly stocked with cooking utensils. The big added plus was the windmill tour which my son said was the most memorable of our trip. My family has been touring around different parts of Europe and has stayed in many different properties, Dirk's house has by far been the best place. If opportunity permits, we will definitely like to visit again.

Dirk and Suzan couldn't have been more accommodating. Dirk kindly picked us up from Alphen aan de Rijn bus station when he knew we were travelling by public transport which is more than we expected when we asked for directions from Amsterdam. He also gave us a ride back to the station at the end of our stay. The old Miller's house is a fantastic place, so peaceful and a great location for those, who like us, want to do everything by public transport. You can get to either Leiden or Alphen aan de Rijn which gives you great access to other bus routes or trains. We got to have a tour of the mill which we found very interesting. We recommend the old Miller's house and we will definitely return again.

This is a delightful and comfortable former Miller's house, right next to a majestic windmill and with a ponder just a few feet from the terrace doors. Expect to enjoy a comfortable and cosy stay, with regular visits from the local wildlife (ducks, swans, moorhens and heron). The house has three bedrooms, including one downstairs which means you can finish a nice evening in front of the TV or the terrace, and relax straight away. The lovely hosts will offer you free bike rental and fishing rods too, and were unobtrusive but always on hand to answer any questions. They were polite and very helpful at all times and our thanks to them for helping us to have such an enjoyable Christmas and New Year at their Miller's house.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Looking out the kitchen/dining room window and seeing the windmill is absolutely fantastic. The cottage is extremely comfortable and is well equipped. The tour of the mill was really appreciated, Eric did an outstanding job as a tour guide. We would definitely return for another stay if we return to area.

We stayed at the former Miller's house in March 2018. Dirk and Suzan were outstanding hosts, friendly and attentive to our needs and interests, but never in the way. My wife and I enjoyed a week long stay with our two teenage boys. The house is in a small town, off the beaten path, but nearby Leiden and the Keukkenhof, and centrally located for sights north (Amsterdam, Haarlem) and south (The Hague, Kinderdijk). The house was quite spacious for the price and met our needs. The highlight was a tour of the windmill next door. Dirk provided a wonderful tour and first-hand perspective of its operation and history. Thanks Dirk and Suzan for a great stay!

Loved my stay! Dirk and Suzan are so kind, friendly and helpful. The house was spotless and well equipped. The garden is well tended and lush with outside dining, 2 adult bikes and a rowboat, of which we enjoyed all! The location is great! Walk-able or bike-able grocery, peaceful and serene, yet easy, fast access to motorways, centrally located for excursions! For USA travelers: very steep, shallow tread stairs (very common in Europe), not for the every young or mobility impaired. The Tour of the Mill is one of the very best parts. Dirk is very knowledgeable and generous with his time, showing you all the parts of the mill, explaining and showing how it works. Truly lovely stay, thank you so much Dirk & Suzan.

My wife and I stayed here for one week with our two girls. Dirk and Susan were very welcoming and friendly. The house has everything you could ask for. There is even a little rowing boat on the canal in front of it. The location between Amsterdam and Rotterdam is perfect.

Das Ferienhaus liegt sehr romantisch am Wasser und einer tollen Windmühle. Der vorbeifahrende Zug ist allerdings in der Nacht schon sehr störend. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und wir hatten eine klasse Mühlenführung vom Vermieter.

Difficile de tout résumer tellement il y a d'aspects positifs... Avant tout, la qualité de l'accueil de Dirk et Suzann !!! Disponibles, accueillants, aidants même quand on a une panne de voiture :) ... Concernant la location, elle est très bien placée pour aller au bord de mer, Amsterdam, Gouda, Leiden, .... Tous les commerces sont accessibles à pied ou en vélo. Les vélos mis à disposition nous ont permis de faire de belles balades, sur les pistes cyclables et trajets sécurisés. La Maison est très propre et fonctionnelle, avec le bonus d'une terrasse très agréable avec canards, poules d'eau comme visiteurs sympathiques... Et le moulin est génial (merci à Dirk pour la visite guidée très intéressante, et en Français !). Donc n'hésitez pas à y aller... Pour nous, c'était une super location, pour découvrir un peu (en 11 jours) les Pays-Bas. Merci encore à Dirk et Suzann !! Marie, Loïc, Arthur et Marius

Wir haben unseren Urlaub in dem schönen Ferienhaus genossen. Die romantische Lage direkt neben der Mühle sowie die Terrasse an der Gracht war wunderbar. Die Vermieter waren äußerst freundlich und jederzeit erreichbar. Ganz lieb fanden wir die Führung in der fast 300 Jahre alten Mühle. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit an diesem wunderschönen Ort in dem herrlichen Mühlenhaus direkt neben der imposanten Wassermühle. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt, die Ferienwohnung ist hervorragend ausgestattet. Suzan und Dirk sind sehr aufmerksame und freundliche Gastgeber. Die Lage ist optimal, um Ausflüge mit dem Fahrrad oder dem Auto zu machen. Im Ort findet man alle Läden des täglichen Bedarfs. Die Zugverbindung gegenüber dem Haus schien uns in unserer Ferienwoche etwas höher Frequentiert, hat uns aber wenig gestört. Absolutes Highlight für uns war die Mühlenführung von Dirk. Vielen Dank an Suzan und Dirk für diese tolle Ferienwoche.

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit in dem Häuschen an der Mühle. In der Wohnung ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Sogar Fahrräder stehen für Ausflüge zur Verfügung. Die Vermieter sind super nett und das Haus inklusive des Gartens werden mit viel Liebe gepflegt. Ein Highlight ist sicher die private Mühlen Führung. Waren schon zum 2 Mal da und bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Diese Ferienwohnung liegt sehr idyllisch neben der alten Windmühle und direkt an einer wunderschönen Gracht. Die Wohnung ist sehr liebevoll und mit Bedacht eingerichtet. So findet man zum Beispiel in der Küche alles, was man braucht. Die günstige Aufteilung mit vier Schlafräumen ist für Familien mit Kindern ideal. Dazu kommen ein wunderbar angelegter Garten und eine sonnige Terrasse, wo man sich gerne aufhält, wenn man nicht unterwegs ist. Vom Quartier aus kann man zahlreiche Ausflüge an die nahegelegene Küste und in die Region machen. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Mühlentraum

Ein wunderschönes Fleckchen zum Entspannen und Wohlfühlen. Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Woche dort. Die Lage ist perfekt für Radtouren, Ausflüge zum Strand oder in verschiedene interessante Städte in der Nähe. Die Fahrräder sind in einem guten Zustand, der TV hat auch deutsche Sender und das Trampolin begeisterte unsere Tochter. Die Terasse morgens mit einem Kaffee und den Wasservögeln war mein Lieblingsort.

Mit Blick auf Windmühle

Wir waren 2 Wochen im August/September im Mühlenhaus und waren sehr zufrieden: es sieht alles aus wie in der Anzeige, vielleicht sogar ein wenig schöner. Wirhaben die Sicht auf das Wasser und die Windmühle sehr genossen. Im und ums Haus war alles da, was man so braucht, für uns besonders wichtig: die Fahrräder. Man kann schöne Radtouren unternehmen oder auch mit dem Auto die bekannten Städte der Umgebung (Leiden, Den Haag, Gouda, Utrecht...) erreichen.
