About this cottage rental

WEEKEND BREAKS & MID WEEK BREAKS (Minimum 3 nights) ARE AVAILABLE OUT OFF PEAK SEASON . PLEASE CONTACT OWNER FOR PRICES & AVAILABILITY.
The Manse is a spacious 2 storey house with a small front garden and rear paved patio which enjoys glorious views of Upper Swaledale. It is decorated and equipped to a high standard with central heating and open fires. Comprising of a lounge, dining room, 3 bedrooms, a kitchen / breakfast room, bathroom, downstairs WC. Guest comfort is a priority at Manse and we are constantly looking at ways to improve and enhance our guest experience.

Built as a minister's residence, the Manse has generously proportioned reception rooms providing spacious living accommodation. The sitting room, with open fire and original Victorian fire surround, is the perfect place to relax after a day outdoors exploring the dales. The windows in both the dining room and sitting room are south facing, looking up the village and are the perfect vantage point from which to observe the comings and goings of daily rural life. Watch lambs gambol & play during lambing time in late spring or see hay being made in the summer. Be amazed at the skills of the sheepdogs as they drive a heft of sheep through the village - for such a small place there's always something interesting to observe in Keld.

At the rear of the Manse is the working kitchen and well equipped prep kitchen / breakfast room with windows overlooking the bottom of the village and Keld woods. With its flagged floor and traditional range the breakfast room is a lovely place to start the day and mull over what might be in store as the day unfolds.

Upstairs the Manse has three good sized bedrooms; one king-size, one double and one twin bedded room and a large shower room. There is a further toilet & hand basin downstairs where you will also find a large walk-in cupboard that houses the central heating boiler which acts as a very effective drying room for those days when the weather catches you out.

The Manse was fully restored in 2009 and has the benefit of full central heating both under-floor and radiators, and open coal fires making it a warm, cosy and comfortable home. A Grade II listed property, many original features including beamed ceilings, stone flagged floors, window seats and fireplaces have been retained making the Manse an idyllic dales retreat but with all modern conveniences for a perfect cottage holiday including WiFi internet coverage and Freeview Television and DVD.

Outside the Manse has gardens at the front and the rear with flower borders, patio areas and outdoor furniture. There is parking for two cars and secure cycle storage adjacent to the cottage.

Keld is a tiny hamlet nestled at the very top of Swaledale. The surrounding scenery is simply stunning with many walks straight from the cottage door. Keld lies on the crossroad of two very popular long distance walks; the Coast to Coast and Pennine Way. The area is a walker's paradise; popular walks including the scenic Keld to Muker route. Local walks take in farmland, limestone crags, woodland, beautiful old dales farm walls and buildings, and the landscape and sites of the once-thriving lead mining industry. Keld is a quiet, peaceful village but boasts a tearoom, a small hotel (Keld Lodge) with excellent restaurant and The Keld Resource Centre where you can pick up leaflets, listen to audio recordings and find out more about the village and surrounding area both past and present.
