Beware of the bail

Old farm house, nicely renovated and well insulated. Very spacious, very well equipped kitchen. Sleeps 10 comfortably. Good starting point for walks and tours. Bakery in the village.

There is a 350e bail upon arrival and a 16 page "etat de lieu" document which we skimmed through. After checking out, the owners charged us with things we havent even touched (while we informed them correctly that my friend broke two balls of a lamp as they were low-hanging). So not recommended otherwise you make a very thorough check of all the inventory. It is a Belgian thing to ask for bail and then barter but this we found extreme. It is an old house so floors can be squeeky but that is part of the charm.

A relaxing and magical stay at Christmas in this beautiful part of the world.

Our friendly hosts made the whole booking experience very easy. The cleanliness, fully equipped kitchen, fireplace and bunk beds for the children. The house was beautifully decorated and our hosts put up a real Christmas tree, especially for our stay, which added to the magical ambience of the house. We went on one of the many trails around the village which were covered in snow. This was a highlight of our week, coming from Australia. We loved our stay in “Le Gite au Coeur de Champlon.”

Richly equipped, fantastic and cozy place to stay.

The house was very cozy, decorated in "Ardennes" style with a lot of wood and rocks. A good working fire place, good beds and plenty of space for everyone. A fully equipped kitchen with plenty of everything, a big american fridge, four and microwave and a really big table. On top a nice terrasse with furniture, weber bbq and playground for the kids in the garden. Nice bathroom (batch and big douche) and a second douche on the top floor, ideal if multiple people want to take a douche in the morning. A lot of interesting places within 30' drive: La Roche en Ardennes, Durbuy, Grottes de Hannes, Bastogne, Brewery Achouffe.

The village Champlon itself has little to offer: there's one bakery. And that's it ... (no pubs, no grocery store). There's a Proxy Delhaize in Tenneville (3 km). Italian restaurant at 3 km, fairly OK, for others you'll need 15-30 minutes drive.

We hebben met 9 personen een heel gezellige week en kerst gehad.

De gezellige inrichting waaronder een zeer mooie kerstboom. De openhaard met meer dan voldoende hout. De grote koelkast met gratis fris water en ook ijsblokjes systeem. Het huis was ook zeer goed warm te houden ondanks het vries weer. De ruime slaapkamers met goede bedden. De goed omheinde tuin voor de hond. Het lekkere biertje en kaasblokjes in de koelkast om ons te verwelkomen, bedankt aan Didier en Florence.

Accueil au top, maison hyper équipée, jardin clôturé, terrasse top, parents, enfants et chiens ravis

Maison hyper accueillante, jardin clôturé, terrasse bien meublée, bbq au bois, grande cuisine bien équipée, grande buanderie très pratique avec machine à laver et séchoir, insert à bois très agréable, bois en suffisance. Belle salle de bain, grande chambre parentale avec dressing. WC en suffisance. TV dans les chambres des parents. Tri des poubelles super bien organisé. A disposition: produits nettoyage, produit LV, lessive, sacs poubelle de tous les types et le plus important: jeu de fléchettes et surtout kicker! Parking pour 3 voitures sans souci. Parents, enfants et chiens ravis!

Le four est vraiment très sale, il mérite un bon dégraissage. Il est dommage que la salle de douche du 2ème étage soit dans la chambre d'1 personne, mais je comprends qu'il est parfois difficile de réaliser certains travaux. Nous nous la sommes donc partagée quand même. Les lits jumeaux de la chambre de 2 du 1er étage glissent énormément sur le sol et ne restent pas accolés. Ca nous a valu quelques risques de chutes au milieu mais on en a plutôt ri. Les matelas de ces 2 lits jumeaux étaient vraiment mous. Et à l'unanimité, dans toutes les chambres, les oreillers sont trop gros et durs. Ces remarques se veulent constructives. Elles n'ont absolument pas gâché notre séjour! Nous avons passé un moment inoubliable en familles et entre amis!
