Food and winelovers, as well as families and friends will enjoy the beautiful historical property Casa Annunziata set in the heart of the Langhe Hills of Piemonte. The house has been extensively refurbished with a large modern kitchen and 4 bathrooms. The second spacious and vaulted family room on the first floor has direct access to a sunny veranda and offers spectacular views due to large floor to ceiling windows. At the center of the house is the cozy family room with a large open fireplace from the 16th century. An impressive and authentic family home with a beautiful garden, where you can spend hours in complete privacy. We stayed there with two families and children aged between 5 and 15. There's a lovely swimming pool where you can have lots of fun, beautiful spacious bedrooms with separate bathrooms, and a beautiful view of the surroundings. A charming village with a forno and a bar is within walking distance. The charming towns of Acqui Therme, Nieve, and Alba are easily accessible by car. More experienced cyclists will enjoy the beautiful cycling routes over hills and through vineyards. Unfortunately, the restaurant within walking distance was closed all week. One evening, we enjoyed dinner with Ann and her husband in the garden. The food and drinks were delicious.

The property is beautiful and spacious for our group of 8. The views are lovely. The kitchen is well equipped and the property manager couldn’t have been more helpful. Because it is very rural, there are limited places to eat and grocery shop nearby. The main restaurant was shut for the next 4 months as was the local pasta shop. The down side is that we had to drive a lot. However the lanscape Is stunning

Annette’s villa is in a beautiful location overlooking a valley below. The rooms are very comfortable, the kitchen is supplied with all of the amenities to enjoy home cooked meals, and the grounds and pool are terrific to enjoy. Would highly recommend the meals prepared by Ann (the caretaker). We had a wonderful time and would surely return.

Awesome views, great building with such character, lots of walks then hit the pool. Well equipped kitchen to make great meals. Very quiet. Dinner option with Ann & Joseph was fantastic. Recommend highly.

Wonderful and spacious house with very well equipped kitchen and large and comfortable bedrooms.
Terrific mountain view, perfect outdoor areas and a superb pool.
Nice short walk to Castino, a charming small town with most of what you need.

Our family (six adults) spent two wonderful weeks at Casa Annunziata recently.
Like other reviewers we found the house was very clean and comfortable with several alfresco eating areas and an excellent outdoor pool area that we took full advantage of.
After we ignored the directions provided (don’t use google maps!) Ann, the property manager patiently guided us to the house - literally stayed on the phone and gave us bend by bend instructions, and then provided a comprehensive intro to the house and grounds.
We had requested some food and wine be purchased for our first evening and as a result there was great quality food and wine waiting (special thanks for the wine, Joseph!)
We really appreciated the tranquility of the house location amongst the hazelnut groves and it’s proximity to historic Castino with lovely local walks nearby.
Also appreciated the recommendations about local markets, restaurants, wine tastings etc. Of particular note were visits to Barolo, la Morra and Cortemelia - don’t miss la Corte de Cannobia for the best hazelnuts and icecream! and local visits to Francesco Scanavino and the Camo Museo a Cielo.
Like previous guests we highly recommend the home dining service provided by Ann and Joseph which was a real qhighlight of our holiday.
Many thanks Annette for sharing your property!

While the pictures of the property are breathtaking, they do no justice to reality. Everything was beyond expectations and our time in Castino was magical.
The property owner and on local manager ensured everything was in order and made our stay totally comfortable and relaxing.

The house, garden and poolarea was very nice.

Excellent property in a great quiet rural location but only 10 mins walk from Castino with its cafe/bar, deli and pasta shop. Perfect for a relaxing getaway with our family and friends. Lots to see in the area - we only scratched the surface. Pool was lovely and much enjoyed, and a real bonus in the summer heat. Communications with Annette and Ann were excellent, and we were made to feel very welcome - with recommendations for places to visit and eat. A real highlight was the evening meal cooked by Joseph and Ann - which was delicious and highly recommended. A fantastic holiday enjoyed by all of us.

Lovely house, well-equipped and easily accommodating 10-12p. Ideal for 3 fams as the rooms on levels 1 and 2 have opposite bedrooms. Great pool on a nice 3-level garden with more than enough space. On the mezzanine level a fine terrass overlooking the hilly environment. We would certainly recommend the property!

Our group of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our stay and certainly would highly recommend. The house & pool area were a needed recluse after a week in busy cities to the south.
Highlight was a fantastic six-course meal with wine pairings prepared by Ann and Joseph! This made a "big" birthday even more special.
Also, I would recommend using their wine service as well. After a couple of e-mails with Joseph about what kind of wine we liked, we arrived at the and were greeted with all of the wine we ordered, which would have been impossible to duplicate from a store or wineries.
Our group likes to cook and we were very happy with the kitchen and amenities.
We enjoyed the stroll through hazelnut orchards to the village of Castino (do it at night and catch the fireflies!), where we visited the deli, coffee shop and yes, the ATM! Also caught an interesting match of fistball one night against another village in a street next to Santa Margherita.
Overall fantastic experience and a great base camp to explore Alba, Barolo, Barbaresco and other small Langhe towns, as well as the Italian Riviera.

Great house with an amazing view. Only “drawback” is it is slightly secluded. 15 minute drive to the grocery store. But that is also it’s charm, just be aware. We had 7 adults and the house worked perfectly for us. We took advantage of having Ann and her husband cook for us while there. Incredible meal! More than worth it. Highly recommend this amazing house!

Annette was very responsive and the house had all of the amenities promised. Stunning views and a perfect place for a large family gathering- lots of large rooms for together time and private spaces for alone time.

Our family of nine fit comfortably in this well maintained and beautiful property. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious. We loved the two large living rooms as well. We were close to Alba and was able to enjoy the town and the White Truffle Festival with wine tastings there. Property hosts Ann and Joseph were extremely helpful responding to our questions with many suggestions. Two highlights were our specially arranged Truffle Hunt and a delicious Prix Fixe dinner with wine pairings created by Joseph and Ann at Casa Annunziata for our family and some friends. Grazie mille also to Annette for sharing her family’s warm and beautiful home with our family. Aloha from Felice and Ed

The stay was fantastic. The house is very well equipped and very comfortable with 5 rooms that were all equally great. The amentities were top notch and the property was incredibly maintained. We were treated to a wonderful dinner and wine pairing our first night and then took advantage of the kitchen the following meals. The kitchen was a cook's dream - all the tools you need and a great range and oven for anyone who likes to cook. I wish we had the time to be here longer, we could have stayed for weeks. Additionally we had our 17 month old with us and she enjoyed the property, running around the garden all day. Thank you so much.

We booked the house to stay in with my mom and our 4 year old son. Friends also came to meet us. The house was so great with multiple groups as there are bedrooms and bathrooms on three different floors. Ann met us at the house with a warm welcome and wine we had ordered. She also arranged a babysitter for our son who was so wonderful. The house is just perfect, nestled in a hazelnut orchard, but not too far from town. The market and bakery in Cortemilia was a favorite. All in all, a totally perfect spot.

We loved our stay. The house and
grounds were beautiful. Every bedroom had
different features but everyone loved their room. Pool is stunning and we used it most afternoons after a day of sightseeing. Kitchen was well provisioned and we cooked a lot. Highly recommend catered dinner by Joe and Anne and also recommend trip to Ann’s museum in Camo. You can walk to Castino which has a good alimentary but slim choices for dining. Most dining about a thirty minute drive and there were an endless number of charming towns and restaurants to visit. Restaurant recommendations were greatly appreciated. We loved the wine tour and tasting at Abrigo Giovanni.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would book this property again. The caretakers Ann and Joseph are fabulous, and you must have them prepare a meal (or two) for you - 5 star! Great kitchen, nice views, and a great pool and outdoor shower. Can't wait to come back.

Our group of 3 couples and 1 single stayed at the villa for 5 nights. The bedrooms are all larger than average; it is an older house with historic charm, and updated throughout. Most windows had screens, except for one of the top floor bedrooms; mosquitos were in abundance, so we had to be careful. Guests reported they were comfortable in the space, but the beds / matresses were hard.
Ann, the house manager, and her husband Joseph, were so kind and thoughtful about everything. We took advantage of Joseph's amazing culinary skills (really, quite good!) for two amazing meals with wine pairings. So much better to do this at home. We enjoyed the 15 minutes walk through the hazelnut orchard to the local village, and getting a bite from the nice pizza place the first night. Tiny town, but this little restaurant is actually quite on top of things.
VRBO has an annoying feature that makes it so even if the place you choose has room for 12, and you say you're bringing 8, if you change to say you're bringing 7 that incurs a change fee - a backhanded way of making a few extra euro, that only tarnish's the brand.
Otherwise, we'd recommend the house - the pool area is lovely, too, but the water will likely be cold unless you're there in the hot summer or pay extra to have the heater on. Thanks again to Ann and Joseph for their kind hospitality!

What a wonderful place. The photos do not quite capture the beauty and majesty of the house and the surroundings. The villa is amidst hazelnut groves, with sweeping vistas of Piemonte hills. The villa is very well maintained and each room is beautifully decorated. Pool is great too!
You can easily walk down a cleared path through the hazelnut trees to the little village of Castino. There is one small store that sells a range of lovely food stuffs - but we did a big grocery shop in Alba or elsewhere.
We had 2 dinners prepared and served by Ann and Joseph. If we could, we would certainly award them a Michelin star! The meals were superb, as were the fabulous wines Joseph paired with the dishes. Highly recommend this to anyone who is staying at the villa.
I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Magnifico!!

We just completed a week stay at Casa Annunziata in Castino. Despite unfavorable weather, we all enjoyed out stay. We were three couples so each couple had their own bathroom plus the use of the new bathroom with tub. The kitchen is well stocked which meant we were able to prepare meals although we did dine out frequently. Be sure to check out the distances to the famous hill towns. Castino is on a ridge one mountain away from the vineyard towns so there is a lot of going up and down mountains which we didn’t mind except when we had to deal with fog.We have already recommended the house to others.

We stayed at this beautifully restored villa for a week in September. The house is extremely comfortable and the grounds and pool are lovely. Our local hosts, Ann and Joseph cooked us a delicious 7 course meal complete with local wines. I highly recommend you take them up on their offer to prepare a meal, it was really a highlight of our stay. Castino is a short 10-15 min walk away or a short drive. There is a decent small market and a really good pizza place in town. We took a few day trips (Barolo, Turin, Alba) but really enjoyed our time relaxing around the beautiful pool. I would highly recommend this property.

Had a wonderful stay! The property has the charms of an old Italian farmhouse while being updated and comfortable. Surrounded by beautiful hazelnut groves. The house itself is well equipped in every way, roomy and comfortable. There are multiple dining areas (both inside and out). We loved the pool and mountain view. The house was situated in the small village of Castino . About a 40 minute enjoyable drive to Barolo to enjoy some of our favorite wines.
Ann and Joseph (property’s caretakers) cooked for us which was one of the highlights of our visit. A gigantic THANK YOU to Ann & Joseph, his brother and mom whom joined us for dinner. Joseph’s cooking was amazing and the wines from his cellar only enhanced the experience.
We can't say enough about this property and would highly recommend this home as a place to visit.

We can't say anything but positive feedback about this gorgeous home. We arrived late in the evening and our hosts had kindly left us some food and drinks that we had requested as we knew we would be arriving late.
We were absolutely blown away by the location of the house, surrounded by beautiful hazelnut groves. A lovely stroll through these takes you to the local village, where you will meet some of the most lovely people, kind and helpful in every way. The local restaurants are also really good.
The house itself is just everything you could as for. We'll equipped in every way, from games, books and dvds for all ages, to everything else you could imagine, pool inflatables, bikes, outdoor games.
Our lovely hosts Ann and Joseph cooked us the most amazing meal on our second night there, providing us with local wines that we just loved. Ann was always on hand to answer any questions we had and honestly we couldn't have asked for any more. I thoroughly reccommend this home to anyone, my daughter loved the pool and spent most days in there!
Thank you again and we hope to return soon!

This was an ideal place for a 3 generation family holiday. The property is exactly as described in the advertisement. Written material pre-stay was exemplary. We particularly appreciated the support and hospitality of the local manager Ann and her husband Joseph, who cooked a memorable meal for us, with expertly curated local wines. Many thanks for a great holiday.

Fabulous!
Fabulous!
This property is fantastic. We stayed for a week but honestly it would have been better if we had stayed two weeks. We didn’t get time to use the pool as we spent every day exploring the surrounding area.
The location is definitely out from any mid sized city. We had several cars between the three couples. We did manage to walk in to the small village which was an easy 15 minute walk along the side of an orchard of hazelnuts.
The three couples each had their own floors along with their own bathroom. The second and third floors had two bedrooms separated by a bathroom. The beds were large and the beds were king sized on the second and third floors. The first floor bedroom had a queen and an en suite bathroom.
The furnishings and linens were very nice! The kitchen was well equipped with a great espresso machine. There was no microwave but we didn’t miss having one. We did have a bit of an issue with getting several of the burners on the stove to operate but we managed.
There are plenty of dining spots to be had; kitchen, dining room, bistro set under a covered patio and a long table under a covered gazebo type structure.
Overall, it was a very well equipped house and very comfortable.
I would stay here again in a second.
We did have cooler weather so there wasn’t an issue with heat but the house seems as though it would stay cool even in the hotter summer months. We always had a cooler breeze in the evening. The only issue with opening up the house was the occasional critter coming in (flies, bees, wasps, hornets, grasshoppers and
Lizards). We never saw a lizard inside. You are in farm country so the critters didn’t bother any of us.
We all would highly recommend a stay here!

Magical vacation
Can I give a place six stars? I would if I could. Everything about our vacation in Castino exceeded expectations. The home is lovely. It easily handled two families, both with two children. The home retains the charms of an old Italian farmhouse while being updated and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful. The owner was gracious enough to begin hearing their pool a week before our arrival despite chilly temps during our spring break. We loved the small village of Castino (definitely try Vola for the pizza — yum!). We enjoyed being just far enough away from Barolo and Barbaressco. But hands down the best part of our stay was getting to know Ann and Joseph, the property’s caretakers. They are two of the loveliest people you could ever meet. Their recommendations were spot on, Joseph’s cooking was to die for (his wine cellar isn’t too shabby either), and Ann joined us an excursion to a wonderful antique market. They prepared meals for us on our first and last days in Castino, and those meals were a highlight of our trip. A huge, big, mammoth, gigantic THANK YOU to Ann and Joseph for the hospitality. I’d go back to Castino in a heart beat. The Alta Langhe has our hearts.

Absolute dream get away!!
Absolute dream get away!!
We had a wonderful stay at Annette's beautifully decorated, newly renovated villa. We were two families traveling with a total of 5 teenagers. The villa had 5 spacious well decorated bedrooms with shared bathrooms. Two great lounge areas complete with comfy sofas, chairs and upstairs a wood stove. Our bedroom opened onto a patio which on clear days gave views of the Alps. The kitchen was fabulous as was the dining area. We started this trip proclaiming we would not do any cooking but couldn't resist as the surrounding villages markets had such wonderful food and the kitchen made it so easy! The caretaker Anne made the trip extra special and fantastic. She patiently and expediently answer all of my many questions prior to our arrival. She was waiting at the villa to greet us, show us the property and upon request had stocked the refrigerator with enough food for a wonderful first meal of bread, cheeses and meats of the area along with fruits, yogurts and muesli for the following mornings. Anne was a wonderful source of information for the area and its surrounds. She booked and accompanied us on a truffle hunt, left maps and directions for hikes in the areas, booked us wonderful wine tasting and a memorable trip to a local hazelnut farm and factory! Anne and her husband also cooked us a very memorable and fantastic meal at the villa complete with clean-up! One of our favorite meals and nights! Our two sons spent a wonderful afternoon mountain biking around the area on the two very nice bikes at the villa.
Annette thoughtfully provided a very inclusive information book about the villa, troubleshooting any problems, local restaurants, museums, etc. Annette was incredibly timely in answering any questions. The villa is better than depicted and I am already planning my return during warmer weather when we could enjoy the pool and outside barbecue and patios! Thank you so much Annette for sharing this gem with us and many, many thanks to Anne for all of your gracious help in making this vacation so memorable!!!
