Onsen Yado Mizuguchi

Location was amazing. Perfectly located in the center of town, walking distance to everything. The staff was super nice and helpful. The whole family really enjoyed our stay.

The onsen set up was a little dated but to be fair, it’s not bad, was super clean and functional. The one toilet was quite cramped but there was a second toilet that was perfectly fine. So for the not so perfect, it had an upside to it so it’s not really negative. They should try to provide two pillows per person and have one that is firm as the pillows were super soft.

It’s right near the centre of Shuzenji and is in a lovely location by the river. The room was traditional and simple. Breakfast and dinner are served in the room - both were delicious! There was air conditioning for the room and a balcony to sit with a drink. The onsen was small, but very hot and relaxing. The showers are handheld and in the onsen area, but it encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone and try the onsen! The staff were friendly and very helpful. This was my first time staying in a traditional ryokan and I would definitely stay here again!

Luggage needs to be carried up stairs if the room is on the upper level. The toilets and wash basins are in a shared area. The room and luggage storage didn’t seem very secure, but I kept my valuables with me most of the time.

Very traditional, very pleasant room, amazing staff! Beautiful location and surroundings! Awesome food!

The onsen could use some renovation, as well as the toilet facilities. The space is very tight! Once you find toilet next to where breakfast is served, you use that one.

The location is great.

I had forgotten the bathroom and toilet were shared and the onsen wasn’t the nicest.
