Getting out and about

Trail walks come first here. The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, a national park along 48 miles of the river, has trailheads about a mile away at Hyde Farm (Johnson Ferry unit) and Gold Branch. The river itself is made for easy paddling: launch at Johnson Ferry North, or rent a kayak or canoe from the outfitter at Roswell's Azalea Park (seasonal, April–September). Rowing fans can look into sculling with the Atlanta Rowing Club nearby. Spend a Saturday at the Chattahoochee Nature Center (about 3.4 mi), then have dinner on historic Canton Street in Roswell (about 5 mi).

Close by are the Columns Drive trails for biking, hiking and running, with old stone ruins on the river that appeared in The Hunger Games. The Avenue East Cobb is about 4 miles away for shopping, dining and EV charging. Historic Roswell (about 5 mi) and Sandy Springs (about 5.5 mi) are both full of restaurants and things to do, from Roswell's Alive in Roswell street festival on Canton Street to Broadway-style shows at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.

- Groceries: Kroger about 1.7 mi, Publix about 2.6 mi. CVS about 2.4 mi.
- Hospitals: Northside Hospital Atlanta, Emory Saint Joseph's and Wellstar North Fulton are each about 20 minutes away (no traffic), and Wellstar Kennestone is about 25 minutes.
