Beautiful organic farm and fabulous hospitality from Brigid, Dessie and daughters!

Brigid and Dessie and their daughters were an absolute delight! So helpful and kind. Sweethearts! The farm is beautifully located and I wish I hadn’t missed the herbal medicine workshop day! I’m sure it would’ve been great as Brigid is very knowledgeable. We were in the en suite property recently renovated. I understand a family member is going to be living in this property. Self catering was and everything you need in clean and modern kitchen. There is also another property which may be less modernised. Brigid and Dessie said we were welcome to organic produce from their polytunnels. The farm is very quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend! Kate.

Shower took ages for hot water to come through. Admittedly the owner did say this would happen Other residents brought food back and ate in the dining room next to my bedroom, talking loudly for an hour I had to tell them to be quiet as it was 11.30 n I was trying to get to sleep Breakfast not provided, the guest had to make his own from provisions supplied

Very good value for money

Peaceful and quiet farm and location. Kind hosts. The shared kitchen is very appreciated and well stocked with all essentials including free breakfast items (which I didn't use but is a generous touch). Loved being able to enjoy the garden and picnic table in gorgeous weather. Fully renovated building so very clean.

The single bed mattress is not super comfortable (I could feel the springs / wiring structure under my body and I'm not heavy). An inexpensive mattress topper could fix this. An extra pillow for comfortable reading would be appreciated, as well as a few more hangers. An extra frying pan would be great as there was only one to share for 4 bedrooms. Very poor sound proofing unfortunately so the experience can vary tremendously depending on the other guests. Last, it was a bit sad for a permaculture farm to only provide conventional cleaning products and toiletries. I understand that providing eco-products would require to slightly increase the price of the accommodation, which would be okay as would remain affordable and great value for money.

All in all a very good quiet stay with very friendly Owners.

Basically it was self- catering. The facilities are brand new, only open 3 weeks ago, very high standard of build, and very clean.

The Location is not sign posted so could be hard to find without Google Maps.

A low-cost countryside base for touring on an organic farm with charming hosts.

This is an attractive area where gently rolling hills (with tree and hedge-lined roads) meet an expanse of ancient bog land. I particularly liked the quiet (because I live in a small village) and the low level of light pollution at night. Although I didn't use the cooking facilities, the kitchen for guests to use seemed to have everything for those who did. Basics for breakfast (milk, cereal, bread and butter, fruit) were provided. Although the weather was cold (below freezing on some nights), the lounge was ultra-cosy with a log-burner fuelled with local peat (a radiator in the bedroom came on as well). The bathroom had a modern shower installed giving excellent hot water and had an effective heater unit for those cold mornings. The location offers a great base for touring (nearby are Kells, Trim Castle, the Hill of Tara, the hilltop neolithic tombs of Loughcrew and Louth historic village, as well as the Boyne Drive locations).

It is not a criticism but this accommodation is not feasible without your own transport to reach it. It has bicycles for use by guests but unfortunately my programme did not allow me to take advantage of this option.

Very nice stay, the owners showed us their permaculture and offered us fresh vegetables (bio !!!). The room was simple equiped but very ok., the beds comfortable. The place in itself is calm and we could relax well.

Kitchen and bathroom are shared with other people living there. It was ok, but could be more clean. Both, bath and kitchen are quite simple and with marks of use.

Relax, rest and wake restored.

Cheap and cheerful. Easy going, relaxed communal and self service living in rustic surroundings. A challenge and contrast to my usual choices of accommodation. Glad to have experienced it. Best night's sleep of my week away.

Back to 70’s ireland with a warm welcome

This was a very basic and slightly primitive house but made up for with the lovely attitude of owners we didn’t get to meet as we arrived so late. You really get the feeling of going back in time but with the owner being really practical and supporting a simpler life. It was incredible value for money, we basically needed a bed for the night and we got that , no more no less no frills but welcoming.

It’s more like a hostel than b and b but they were completely honest with pictures etc so I couldn’t really fault it- it was cheap , clean bed and honest.

A unique experience of rural Ireland

Bridget was absolutely wonderful. Thoughtful and engaging. The experience is certainly different than what most tourists would find in typical accommodations. You have to understand that this is a working farm and your experience there is shaped by that fact. For my part, this was part of the value of staying here.

Although our room was well appointed and comfortable, some guests will no doubt take issue with common spaces, most especially the bathroom. Given my experience, traveling extensively throughout the world, it was was nothing too problematic. Again, understand that this is a working farm, with not only guests staying for a night or two as tourists, but also workers who are assisting the proprietors in maintaining their farm. I cannot fault Bridget for making her best effort to keep things tidy and clean.

The housekeeper was very amiable. She waited for us event if we arrived very late, really really nice from her.

It wasn't very clean. We were a little bit uncomfortable because everything was shared and the toilet was quite far from the room.
