Vieux Palais - Chamonix

The staff of Vieux Palais was incredibly helpful, our flight got cancelled and we arrived a day after, yet they rearranged and met us at the property to ensure we got a good reception. The flat itself is really great, very comfortable and large, and has all necessary facilities, incl a well equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms (3 beds in each) and 2 bathrooms (incl one tub and one shower). So for a family of 5 it was perfect. Also, we had access to the building’s parking which is key during peak season (most public parkings were full). The views from the flat over Mont Blanc were amazing.

Of course, it is not a luxurious flat and the building is a bit tired, but we really enjoyed it and it met all of our needs. The only tiny thing is that they could upgrade are the frying pans (worn down) and also to have normal sized dinner plates (they were too big for the dishwasher so we did most of the dishes by hand). Also, be aware that the ski locker is far down in the basement (and not heated, ie you cannot dry your boots there), so we ended up not using it very much.

Very good location in the center of Chamonix. Owners were very helpful and very responsive.

No room in the building to change ski equipment. There is a locker but no place where you can comfortably sit and put on and take of ski boots which is a standard for ski apartments. Nevertheless, it is a minor issue.
