De eigenaar Carlos was zowel vooraf als tijdens het verblijf zeer behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Het is een mooi huis op korte afstand van Monteverde, leuke restaurants op 5-10 min autorijden

We hebben de 1e nacht amper geslapen doordat een straatlamp recht op de kamer schijnt en de gordijnen niets tegenhouden. De enkele ramen laten alle geluiden door, blaffen van honden, wind, motors enz. Het bed was ook niet heel comfortabel. Voor de eigenaar zouden we teruggaan maar helaas niet meer op deze locatie.

Decorated with love and artistic taste. Close to montevrde, but a bit on un paved road. Host very friendly. Spacious

From the exterior, the home is charming. Located in a very quiet cul de sac with an amazing view. The owners dog was impossibly adorable. Kitchen is fully stocked, and Carlos was kind enough to supply us with a few fresh eggs and 2 beers in the fridge. Extremely thoughtful.

To start, the area of Monteverde/St Elena is a tourist trap. Location is not ideal. If you do not have a car rental, please stay in Saint Elena. There is virtually one taxi that sits at the bus station. If you’re on foot, you are screwed, because you will pay a fortune to move about in small square radiuses. With that said, it was quite off putting to be made to feel as if I were stuck endlessly in this trap with our host. From first engagement on WhatsApp (I was asked for gas money for the owner to “graciously” come grab our 2 bags while we found something to do because the house would not be ready until 3pm.. our initial arrival was at 11am…), it was a consistent transaction. Every step you take, every breath you make, had a price tag. Generosity out the door. No genuine, authentic, interest to host people from all around the world and all walks of life. Shark tactics in tourism never incentivizes a traveler to invest in you. Beware that the property is being falsely advertised on booking. It is listed as a 2-bdr house, yet, that is a different story upon arrival. It is a house with a SHARED room (1-double bed and 1-twin bed). The second bedroom is locked for the wife’s arts & crafts projects. I had to fight for this error to be corrected, and after much resistance and condensation, it was. The room is fully operational with a full bed. There is a breathing cluster of marketing materials strewn about on the television console (could not find a remote amongst this), that is pushed in your face before you can even set your bags down. There is also a heavy, mildew, stench in the apartment. From the interior of the rental, and still having almost all of their personal belongings strewn about, shows that the owner’s haven’t put much thought into fully separating their business. I was also disappointed that the wife did not take the time to come meet or greet us. Last but not least, pushing religion on to people (especially strangers) is a HUGE no no.
