Tórshavn Apartment - In The Center

The ground-floor apartment we stayed in (11A) is spacious. It's situated near a beautiful park and a shopping mall with a supermarket. The apartment was clean. The beds were comfortable. The flat had two walk-in wardrobes.

The whole apartment had an unpleasant musty smell. We aired the rooms for a long time, but couldn't get the smell out. The sound insulation between the flats is poor, so you can clearly hear footsteps from the flat above. On the first night, we were woken early by children running around upstairs. The following nights, only adults were staying there, so it was quieter. The living room and kitchen were ok, but the bedrooms (one of which had no window), the bathrooms and the hallway were rather bare and outdated. The were no hooks in any of the bathrooms to hang our towels. The apartment is on top of a hill, a 20-minute walk from the centre, which might be a challenge for people with limited mobility The communication with the host was very impersonal, I was addressed with Dear Mr... in the emails although I'm a woman and they had a copy of my passport and most of the communication was a long list of tasks we had to complete before check out and the fines we would get if we didn't comply (we always tidy up, wash the dishes, throw the garbage etc before leaving an accommodation, but we've never received a list of fines before). Towards the end of our stay we received at least three emails from the host to prepare us for check out, which was unnecessary to say the least. The check out was too early, especially considering the list of tasks expected from us. The TV worked but there were no channels available and Smart TV did not work. We found the price too high, especially considering all the above.

The location was very quiet backing up to a nice forest. The size was fantastic and all the facilities were great.

The directions to the property were not specific enough so it took me a long time to find the exact building and unit even though I found the street quickly. Google Maps leads to a dead end on the wrong side of the street. Also the building number is not very big. Also the specific unit is around the back of the building. All of this should be explained with photos.

Some basic facilities such as washing machine powder was not available. The last day tenants upstairs were walking which was very load and uncomfortable.

Excellent location. Quiet and comfortable. Anything we needed was available. Having the dryer was the reason I chose this particular accommodation and then it didn’t rain (not even once) and we didn’t need it, but its availability was key to my choice.

My niece couldn’t get the TV to function.
