Chata Baba Yaga

We spent a wonderful week here, and it felt like the perfect place to rest, slow down and completely disconnect. Richard and his wife looked after us incredibly well and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious, we honestly didn’t want to eat anywhere else! Everything was fresh, homemade and full of flavour. The garlic soup was life-changing!! :) and completely unforgettable! Breakfast was also excellent, with so many tasty choices, and the wonderful smell of food coming from the kitchen made the whole place feel even more warm and cosy. Our apartment was spotless and comfortable, and the entire property is beautiful, peaceful and full of charm. We tried the most comfortable beds in the world! There is such a special sense of calm here. We left feeling rested and restored. An exceptional experience in every way. We would return without hesitation and highly recommend it!

Eine perfekte, sehr ruhige Lage abseits des Trubels, trotzdem ist man sehr schnell an den Hotspots. Das Hotel ist sehr liebevoll gestaltet und geführt. Die Küche vorzüglich.

Property with character and some charming features, but we found it less than comfortable. We booked and paid for four nights, but only stayed for three as the beds were so uncomfortable we had trouble sleeping. The loft above the head of the bed is very low, so you have to duck to get in and out of the bed. Not ideal if you get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and forget to duck! When the occupants of the upstairs unit were about, we could hear loud footsteps and what sounded like chairs being moved. Very noisy. The kitchen was functional although the fridge did not cool much. Bathroom was fine. Breakfast was good, but exactly the same every morning. We had dinner there our first night and the food was good, but opted not to have any more dinners there after my wife asked for bottled water. We were told to drink the tap water. My wife has an auto immune disease and needs to be very careful with what she eats or drinks so I went back to our room and brought her a bottle of water. The host then picked up the bottle to see where it was from and loudly proclaimed that the "Hungarian bottled water is garbage." We were shocked and disappointed by this rudeness from the host. Requiring the deposit be paid by bank transfer (from the US) was a hassle. As it goes to a personal account (not a company account), it was flagged by my bank as fraudulent. Too much time spent to book and too much cost for what we received.
