A historically protected house right on the beach at Omaha, Normandy, France in the Dog Green sector. Dog Green beach was portrayed in both movies Saving Private Ryan, and The Longest Day. Experience history first hand.

Vierville sur mer at Omaha Beach is located between beautiful old Bayeux (20 km away) and the fishing village of Grandcamp Maisy only (12 km away).

About the Historic House: A historically protected house right on the beach at Omaha, Normandy, France in the Dog Green sector. Dog Green beach was portrayed in both movies Saving Private Ryan, and The Longest Day. The house was there on the beach front during the D-Day landings and managed to get through it with only roof damage, quite a bit of damage to the fence and some ammo damage on the walls of the building. The previous owners, the Hardelay's, a wealthy local family, were evacuated from the house by the German's prior to the invasion. Mr. Hardelay later become the mayor of Vierville and would entertain many famous people at the house during the proceeding years including Mrs. Nancy Reagan. On the top of the hill to the left side of the first picture was the German position WN70. WN stands for 'Widerstandnest' in German and in English the 'Resistance Nest' At this position the German's had a 75 mm gun in pill box and another 75 mm gun, 4 tobruks with MG's, 2 mortars in concrete emplacements.

The Living Room: The salon is a very large room, with a 10 foot cove ceiling and fabulous views of the sea from the very large bay window. You will be able to see the sea from 90 degrees to the north, east and west. Two very comfortable chairs are strategically placed at the window for the best views in the house, and a lovely place for an afternoon tea and a cozy read or a glass of wine at sunset. The room is very bright and sunny.

Also on the ground level: A dining room with French doors to the sun room and kitchen. A table and 8 chairs with a large buffet. Beautifully decorated in golds. Very romantic for lovely French dinners. Located off of the dining room and main hallway is a comfy T.V. room. It has a 50' wide screen Plasma T.V. and DVD player. Comes with DVD's, Music CD's and games and puzzles.
Laundry facilities on this level.

The Kitchen: An extremely large kitchen with 13 foot ceilings. Fabulous views of the sea through 12 foot windows and French doors. Also fabulous views from the sink and washing area along with views from the breakfast nook. At the back of the kitchen is patio doors and a window cross through to the outdoor BBQ and fireplace and the patio furniture. A beautiful view of the hilly countryside.
The eat in kitchen seats 8 and has an additional comfy breakfast nook for 4. Seats 2 at the island. It comes with a full fridge and freezer, a dishwasher, wine fridge, wine rack, lazy susan and plenty of storage, including a pantry. Butcher block counter tops, slate tiles for island and backslash. All appliances are stainless steel.
A very large island with eating area, a desk area in breakfast nook. Also a large gas stove and oven, microwave and coffee machine .
