About this house rental

Restored Old Stone Cottage set in the heart of countryside on the border between Burgundy and Champagne surrounded by forests, vineyards and an abundance of wildlife. The last house in a beautifully quaint traditional French village.

West of the famous wine village Chablis and north of Beaune. There is plenty to do if venturing out and about although a car is essential. A 4 hour easy drive south from Calais passing through Reims (famous for its major Champagne houses).

There are 3 beautiful rustic style bedrooms, all with original exposed oak beams. One king size bedroom, one double and one twin. Each room is personally decorated with its own rustic style. The perfect place to relax and unwind.

There is plenty to do when out and about but a car is essential. We now have an electric car charger for exclusively for guest use - Wallbox Copper SB 7 KW (chargeable).

The cottage is in a rural location and is perfect for a relaxing break with bread, cheese, wine and sun lounger in the garden (log fire in winter). The location is perfect for wildlife enthusiasts with occasional sightings very late at night or early morning of fox cubs, coypu, field mice in the garden and even deers and wild boar in the surrounding fields.

The cottage is a beautifully designed traditional stone house in the calm French countryside. Apart from the elegant interior with the cozy fireplace and lots of natural wood, the architecture of the house allowed us to enjoy a holiday together while having individual places of retreat. The kitchen and the outside bbq set you up for preparing lovely food. The village itself is rather small and quiet, but the trout farm willprovife perfectly fresh fish. Apart from that the scenic surroundings invite you to long walks. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

We had a fantastic couple of weeks in this lovely property. The house is very well equipped, superbly located and offers a great place to unwind and get away from it all. Charlotte is a fantastic host providing massive amounts of useful information, responds to questions very promptly and nothing seems like too much trouble.

This is a typical French country house with a nice touch of British style. It is spacious with a large garden and simple but effective pool. We appreciated the outdoor fridge on the porch and the shed with a freezer, complete kitchen and two bathrooms. It does get hot in the attick but every room has a fan. It is a very quiet place, great to get away from daily life. Shops and activities are a bit of a drive to get to, nature is there in abundancy. Communication with the owner via Whatsapp was pleasant and very quick.

The charming property lies at the edge of a small village (so a car essential). Very peaceful - lovely a quiet. Dark nights and no light pollution so great seeing the bats etc. The cottage itself was well presented and gave great flexibility of space. Sadly the weather wasn’t kind for our stay but the space allowed 3 teens ample room not to annoy each other! Rooms simply and rustically decorated. We found the accommodation well equipped (although we had to get the instructions out to use the oven). The swimming pool kept the boys entertained and the lovely wrap-around garden meant when that sun did shine you could follow it. The wet weather did hinder some of our plans but we all enjoyed the wonderful visit to Troyes and even driving to the supermarkets (which we varied) we loved the beautiful countryside. Overall we loved our stay and would love to visit again if possible. The accommodation and our hosts were very welcoming. Recommended

We returned a few days ago from a wonderful two weeks at Mont Remin Cottage, which is everything it says on the website and more. Very spacious, comfortable, well equipped - in fact, everything you want of a home from home on holiday. The second double room with ensuite and dressing area is self-contained, giving welcome privacy to our student son. Tammie the dog loved the spacious garden, especially enjoying the shade beneath the lavendar bushes. The countryside around Veuxhaulles-sur-Aube is beautiful and varied, with plenty of enjoyable and interesting walks. Very grateful for generous welcome pack on arrival after 5hr drive from Calais and thanks to Charlotte for even booking Tammie in with the vet in Chatillon for return journey. Heartily recommend Mont Remin Cottage for long or short stay.

We spent a very relaxing week here. A real home from home with everything you need including a toaster! (very rare in French properties). We visited Troyes and rented a little boat on Lac Amance - great fun. A dog's paradise with so many lovely walks on your doorstep. If you are looking for a quiet escape from it all, we recommend this place.

The house is set at the end of a very quiet village. It is a lovely family home and has everything needed for a relaxing break. It has plenty of room - we went with two teenage daughters. The garden is large and secure-we took our dog and it was perfect for him. The pool was lovely for cooling dips and we loved the covered patio (with lights for night time) which meant we could be outside pretty much all the time - even during a storm. We didn't use the lounge/Dining area at all but i'm sure the stove would be lovely in cooler periods.

What a wonderful house in the French countryside

We stayed here for a few days en route to the French Alps and also a few days en route coming back. We could not have chosen a better house to stay in, it was comfortable, made you feel at home and was lovely and clean. The garden was perfect for our dog, completely enclosed so no worry about him getting out, lovely country walks straight from the door which was a real bonus. The house has been beautifully renovated and the 2 sided wood burner between the living and dining room was a fantastic feature which made for cosy relaxing evenings drinking wine and eating good food. Charlotte, the owner was ab fab and a real joy to deal with, communication with her was amazing, immediate responses. Would not hesitate to come back here again or to recommend it to anyone else.

The house is very discreet and comfortable with pretty well all the conveniences you would wish for in your own holiday home. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and the living/eating/cooking spaces are all clean, well cared for and practical so they can be enjoyed by the family without being terrified of touching of things. We ate indoors and out and everything worked perfectly.We had two little dogs who settled in instantly, their only problem being that their legs were too short for one of the steps, a very minor issue indeed and hardly the fault of the house owners! The neighbours were very French but also very pleasant and forgave our Franglais with good humour. Locally the shopping is pretty limited so planning ahead is necessary, but there is a good range of varied towns and villages within striking distance where everything can be found. The weather was mostly very kind, and we made trips to the lakes, Nigloland (compares well with with UK theme parks), Troyes, Chatillon (nice spring and excellent museum there, also very good vets for the dogs complusory visit), went bubbly tasting, did trout fishing in the village (you WILL catch a fish) and loads of other stuff. One final thing, if the night sky is clear, the stars and Milky Way are just incredibly bright compared to the UK, AND we saw loads of shooting stars. An excellent family holiday

It is beautifully maintained, has everything we needed (even for the kids) and is set in a lovely, tranquil location. Its the ideal place to get a taste of real France and I truely hope we will return soon - a real home from home. Thanks for sharing your home with us - we loved it.

Mont Remin cottage is situated in a very sleepy village on the Burgundy/Champagne border. The cottage itself has been renovated to a high standard and has all the home comforts you could need. The village is missing a bakery which is a shame as we would have liked our morning stroll to buy bread. I guess the next village is about 15 mins to cycle or 5 mins in the car. We were also very grateful for the plunge pool to cool off and the BBQ, which again we used most nights. And I have to confess that the satellite TV was appreciated so that I wouldn't miss too much of Wimbledon.We chose this area as we wanted to explore the wine and champagne region. The start of the Route de Grand Vins is about an hour's drive from the property but all very accessible with great motorways (toll roads). Reims took about 1.5hrs to get to and we stayed there overnight to get the most of the city and take part in the Pommery champagne house tour. Drive through the grand Marne valley to see the stunning Champagne vines and also see the major Champagne houses. Although you will find "local" champagne houses about 15 minutes drive from the cottage.Would we go back? Yes. It's a part of France that we hadn't explored before and really enjoyed the very rural and agricultural countryside. And the drive from Calais was about 4.5hrs and very easy.

I took my family to France for the half term, thinking whether the children would like this type of holiday compared to a beach holiday - I was so glad by the end of the week the children loved it. The cottage was amazing, stunning and set in beautiful surroundings. The cottage was well equipped and everything that you would ask for like home from home - so had no problems with anything there. The property is to a very high standard and therefore was very please - especially as it had Wi-Fi as my daughter and son took their IPADS. The owners have a black book at the cottage and it tells you everything that you can do within the area and the surrounding places to visit - excellent explanation - Our visit consisted of two days in Paris, Nigoland and also a day trip to Dijon plus visits to the local hypermarkets in a nearby village which was about 20 mins drive from the cottage. We did not fit everything in that was advised in the black book at the cottage so would love to go back to visit the champagne vine yards and other major town/cities etc which are not too far away. I must say that the road in France are a pleasure to drive on as this was my 1st driving holiday.

A wonderful cottage in rural France, much bigger than expected! Nice easy drive from Calais even though it's 4hr drive it didn't feel that long. Lovely garden for a spring bbq, nicely decorated and ideal for that French feel. Will definitely return later in the year! Must visit the surrounding villages as they are so pretty especially Dijon. Beautiful countryside for a lovely walk on a summers day.

Easy booking and very helpful and friendly owners. Set in beautiful, quiet surroundings. Large open plan lounge and dining area, separated only by an amazing fire place with large wood burner, that keeps the house warm and cosy on a cold winters night. Fully equipped kitchen, with everything you could possibly need. Large comfortable beds with modern bathrooms......loved the shower !! The whole house has an unbelievable finish, but still has an old French farm house feel. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning in 2015.

Superb luxury french farmhouse. Owner provided a real home from home. Very well equipped and beautifully furnished and maintained. Above ground swimming pool and garden were also well maintained with barbeque and loungers, chairs and table. Area was quiet but had interesting and varied places to visit although you would need a car to make the most of the area. Nearby countryside was idyllic with the property sitting on the border of Burgundy and Champagne regions. It was just 4 and half hours drive from Calais mainly on toll roads. All dealings with the owner went smoothly. Overall a fantastic holiday would recommend highly.

Lovely property in a beautiful area

I stayed at this property with my boyfriend in June 2010. The property has been very well renovated providing comfortable, well equipped accommodation whilst retaining it's character and charm. It's a good size house which offers reception rooms suitable for the largest family but still provides cosy spaces for quiet time alone. The garden is lovely and provides a great space for BBQ s and picnics and lots of room for children to run around and play. We visited the property for a relaxing long weekend (which it's perfect for being an easy 3 1/2 drive from Calais) so we didn't do much travelling around but the surrounding area is lovely. Peaceful, bathed in golden french sunshine with stunning countrywide and architecture. I hope to have the opportunity to visit again soon.

Had a lovely stay at this cottage. It is equipped with everything you could need. Its location is very peaceful. You do have to get into the car to get to any kind of supermarket or shopping. The local trout farm was great fun for our little boys who tried out fishing for our BBQ's. The weather in July is amazing, so a lot of time was spent outdoors in the garden. A very enjoyable and relaxing holiday. Family Simmons!!!

Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable dans cette maison traditionnelle bourguignonne. Si vous voulez déconnecter et vous ressourcer en famille au son des oiseaux vous êtes au bon endroit! La maison est très bien agencée et dispose de toutes les commodités. Le seul bémol peut-être est relatif à l’emplacement puisque de nombreuses attractions alentours sont dans un rayon d’environ une heure de voiture. A recommander vivement néanmoins, merci Charlotte!
