5BR Hilltop Wine country home w pool and spectacular views near Alba and Barolo

Fabulous stay! We loved the house. It was a perfect place to spend a chilled week. There were just two of us and the dog so we had loads of room but it still felt homey. It is beautiful with such interesting decor and books and collections. Kitchen has everything you need. And the views are stunning. We must have said “wow, this is so beautiful” a dozen times a day. Good to be aware there is just one full bathroom plus an extra toilet on the upper floor with three of the bedrooms and a distance to bathroom for one of the ground floor bedrooms. There are other bathrooms but not ensuite not super close to the bedrooms. But this was fine for us with just two people. Kaya was a lovely host. Super responsive, friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed. Fantastic walks directly from the house. Easy drive to San Damiano d’Asti which is a wonderful small village with great butchers and weekly market and anything you need. A fabulous house and wonderful stay. We hated to leave!!

This is a farmhouse converted and upgraded with all the current appliances, fast internet, and even a sauna and a hot tub. Yes there are parts that are still rustic but not in a way to make you uncomfortable. And the views of the Vineyards and other hilltops like Cisterna are second to none. We can't say enough good things about our host. She is very knowledgeable about the property, the local restaurants, grocery stores, and wineries. She even set us up with a cooking class and responded very quickly to our questions and needs. We felt obligated to leave her a bottle of wine for her outstanding service.

This house provided a great space and home base for three couples, with spacious bedrooms, 3.5 baths, excellent kitchen, dining & living area, additional den, laundry, and lovely outdoor space with lots of amenities, including pizza oven, pool etc. Sitting atop a hill, it offered great views and ease of proximity to San Damiano, Alba and other nearby towns. I would give the property a 5; however, we encountered mechanical issues with the boiler that was the source of hot water and heat. Our host, Kaya, had let us know before we departed the US that the boiler was malfunctioning and she was working diligently to get a plumber to resolve it. When we arrived, she said he had corrected it but within two days, it failed. Kaya was very attentive to the situation and guided us through a work around. But the uncertainty of hot water added some stress to our stay. The boiler continued to be erratic. Kaya could only do so much and finally called the plumber. The system seemed to work the final night of our stay. (We could also not get the hot tub to heat the water.) In hindsight, we should have done a thorough walk-through with Kaya to ensure all the equipment was functioning and also how the boiler system work. (One wall radiator never came on.) Bottom line: it's a really nice, large comfortable country home in a great location with many accoutrements. I am confident the mechanical issues will be resolved before the next renters arrive.
