About this villa rental
BEST VALUE for something truly nice in PLAYA GRANDE. Our fully furnished Costa Rica style home provides a wonderful and relaxing getaway in a private, gated, quaint, laid back beach community separated from the congestion of Tamarindo. It is within a short 5 minute walk to a beautiful, pristine surfing beach, several great restaurants, bars, rentals of surfboards, beach chairs, bicycles and even a small grocery store is only a short walk from the house. Tiled roof, floors and counter tops throughout. Relax on the covered patio where Iguanas and colorful birds perch and may be coaxed to eat from your hand (if you are patient enough). Monkeys often frequent our trees. Also, within walking distance, a beautiful estuary provides fishing, boating, and offers a water taxi (5 minute boat ride to Tamarindo for dining, dancing, gambling, shopping and souviners). You may also choose to walk to Tamarindo via the beach (possible only at very low tide or take a very short boat taxi ride ) . Dual vanities in bathroom. Maid service 1 x per week. AWESOME BEACH!!!!! Casa Mambo is close enough to the beach to hear the waves crashing when they are big! It is an easy and short walk to the beach from the house. The architecture and appointments of Casa Mambo reflect the the style and culture of the local area and its people.

Casa Mambo is great. It is located close to good restaurants and a short walk to the beach. The pool (shared with 6 units) is lovely and quite private. Shawna the property manager is excellent and very responsive. Relative to other units Casa Mambo would benefit from more comfy outdoor furniture but overall we'd recommend it and would visit again.

We loved our stay in Palm Beach Estates. The quaint community is a perfect getaway for relaxation and surfing. Casa Mambo is about a quarter mile walk to the beach. Along the way, you will come across 3 different awesome restaurants and a mini mart. The mini mart has very basic things. If you want groceries, there are a few supermarkets (not very good ones) about 20 min away. Or you can drive to Tamarindo (40 min) or take backpacks and bags across the water taxi and load them up. There are 2 places to rent surf and boogie boards on your walk towards the beach. Casa Mambo was lovely and Shawna the property manager is easy to work with. The community pool is nice too. Just beware, the living area/kitchen does not have air conditioning. The bedrooms do have AC though. Trying to cook or hang out in the sweltering heat can be challenging. The beds were a bit hard and the pillows were not great. There are a few rusty beach chairs available for use, but it would be nice if there was maybe a beach cooler and some boogie boards offered as well.All in all we really enjoyed our stay!

This was our second time staying here. We love the location, only a short walk to the beach and to restaurants. We enjoyed the peacefulness. Great surfing. Lots of options for other explorations nearby. Some comfortable lounge chairs would be nice outside, and a few more things in the kitchen would be nice, but otherwise, we loved our stay.

This unit is one of 6 in a cluster of identical small cottages. There is nice landscaping and a small swimming pool in the courtyard. I cannot give this property high marks, mostly because it is probably 30 years old and has apparently not been updated or thoroughly cleaned in a long time. The decor is an collection of older stuff. Paddle fans have a layer of grime. The most annoying thing about the rental is that we were instructed not to put toilet paper in the toilet because the septic system can’t handle any solid waste. In many years of travel I have never had to put toilet paper in a trash bag instead of the toilet bowl
The WiFi worked good and there were several flat screen TVs, but we never found any English language stations, which makes the TVs pretty useless for most visitors. There are also a couple of weathered bicycles, which we didn’t use because one had a bad tire.
Overall, I don’t think we would stay here again.
