YADO ARASHIYAMA

The staff was TOP TIER! I work in hospitality and everyone at YADO were experts at making you feel welcome. The rooms were so spacious and luxurious for the price. I will be staying here again and recommending everyone I know! I loved the area as well. Sleepy and quiet Arashiyama was a nice break so thank you, YADO!!!

3rd time staying at arashiyama. This is my fav hotel I’ve stayed at so far with a very decent price point. And yes breakfast was amazing! Book it you won’t regret it

Stay for the breakfast for sure. The room for single person is not ideal (feels like a dorm and a bit noisy), I ended up changing to a bigger room and it was much better !!! but again, stay just to experience the breakfast at least, it's exceptional!

I spent two nights at Yado Arashiyama in early March and I wish I could have stayed there even longer. The facilities are clean and modern, and the location is excellent, on a quiet street on the "far side" of the bridge not far from the entrance to Monkey Park. The highlight of course is going to be the breakfast at Muku, the on-site restaurant. This tour de force of visual and gastronomic beauty was a highlight of many highlights of Arashiyama - but definitely was the best food in the whole area. Stay here for the breakfast if nothing else. It really is that good and worth it to stay here. Plan to take 45 minutes to an hour for breakfast so you can savor everything including the self brewed dashi broth... an enlightening experience in itself. Easy access to the bamboo forest and not too far from the Kimono Forest located at one of the train stations (NOT the JR one)... but it is a trek to get here from the train station, especially later at night in the dark. Don't come with spinner type suitcases, go for ones with skate wheels which can handle rougher streets and sidewalks. Be aware that the town shuts down at 6pm (at least in early March), so food options are limited beyond 6pm, although there is one noodle shop 1/2 a mile down the street that stays open till 7:30pm... so plan accordingly. If I had a few more days to stay, I would rent a bicycle to explore some of the other temples and shrines farther up the hill - search PIQtour Arashiyama on YouTube for a good vlog on where to go on bicycle here and other things to do. Arashiyama is my favorite place to explore in Kyoto. The bamboo forest gets crowded by 9am - even in early March, so if you want a more solitary experience, you would need to get up even earlier. I would not hesitate to stay at Yado Arashiyama on my next visit to Kyoto. The breakfast alone is worth coming to Arashiyama to experience. I know of nowhere else where there is such a classy and uniquely local culinary experience. My breakfast was included in my lodging fee so I considered it the best deal in town. Extremely reasonable when booked through Agoda. I will be here again, and next time, I'll bring friends!
