Have stayed at Trove a few times, but this will probably be my last stay. The moment we opened the main door to our first room, we were hit by an extremely strong sewage smell. It was so unbearable that we couldn’t even step into the room comfortably. We went down to the reception to report the issue and requested a room change, which they accommodated. Unfortunately, the second room wasn’t much better. There was still a strong sewage smell coming from the toilet drain, so we had to keep the bathroom door closed to prevent the smell from spreading into the room. To make matters worse, the walls were extremely thin and the room was a connecting room. We could clearly hear almost every conversation from the neighbouring room. We basically gave up and went out to continue with our day. When we returned around midnight, the sewage smell had become even worse. It was so bad that we didn’t even want to use the bathroom. The guests next door were also talking loudly until around 2am, making it practically impossible to get any proper rest. Eventually, we gave up and checked out at around 3am. It’s disappointing because I’ve stayed at Trove several times before, but this experience was by far the worst. For anyone considering booking here, I would highly recommend topping up a little more for better comfort rather than risking a stay that leaves you feeling miserable and unable to sleep.

The room feels dated. There was a stale smell when we entered. After leaving the air-conditioning running, the smell went off. Room was next to the road and was not well soundproof. Can hear all the sirens, the horns, the cars driving past.
