We were looking to stay someplace not too far from the Texas State Fair and picked the Oak Cliff neighborhood. The Madison is within walking distance of several bars and restaurants as well as a nice park. The staff was very helpful, the rooms are newly renovated and clean and there is free parking in the back. As the hotel is historic, the rooms are small but well-appointed. There were chickens in the neighborhood, which we heard early in the morning but they provide earplugs and it wasn't much of a bother. It's also interesting that Lee Harvey Oswald reportedly stayed at the hotel, and that it's the same neighborhood that Bonnie and Clyde grew up in. I would stay here again for sure.
