Taru Villas The Long House

I really enjoyed my stay here. It’s a private hotel where the gate was kept closed at all times, which I really like. There were only a few guests at the time so the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful; exactly what I was looking for when I chose this hotel. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the manager, Mr. Madhu, who was very helpful and welcoming and immediately made me feel at home. Everything during my stay was very much to my liking. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom and a lovely balcony. The staff were friendly, attentive and always smiling. I could genuinely feel the warm Sri Lankan hospitality throughout my stay. I also loved the scenery and surroundings especially when it rained. Somehow, it made everything feel even more calm, peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was great and I also had dinner at the hotel once, which I really enjoyed. Overall, the staff went to great lengths to make my stay comfortable. There was just one area that I felt could have been handled better, the checkout experience. Towards the end, things felt a little awkward and less warm compared to my arrival. I waited around 10 minutes at the reception while the office prepared my receipts and for the staff to bring back my laundry. I had sent out one pair of pants and a T-shirt the afternoon before and had specifically asked if they could be ready before checkout. I also reminded the laundry staff about it again about two hours before I left. After that, I waited another 15 minutes for my Pickme driver to arrive. During that time, I was sitting alone at the reception and no one came to check whether my transportation was arranged or if I needed any assistance. The office staff remained in the office and no one came out to speak with me or even make a little conversation while I waited for my ride to arrive. I understand that it was not necessarily their responsibility to entertain me but a simple checking or friendly conversation would have made the checkout experience feel much warmer. I completely understand that this is a small private hotel rather than a large chain property with a dedicated concierge or porter service. However, I did have to take my own luggage outside and when my driver arrived, there was a moment where the driver and the security guy seemed to be looking at each other, almost as if they were waiting to see who would help with my heavy luggage 😅. I eventually had to wait for someone to come over and assist me with putting my luggage into the trunk. That said, these were only small issues at the very end of what was otherwise a genuinely pleasant and relaxing stay. I simply wish the warmth and attentiveness I experienced during check-in had continued through the checkout process as well. Overall, I had a lovely stay and really appreciated the privacy, peaceful surroundings, beautiful scenery and wonderful hospitality. I would happily remember this place for its calm atmosphere and the warm welcome I received from Mr. Madhu and the team.

All the staff were super hospitable. Sameera Bandara was very helpful. I love the property's privacy!

This place is so special. Pure luxury and calmness. The architecture is so beautiful.

The hotel is a well maintained property offering a nice view and access to the beach. The staff are very polite. Nice breakfast options!
