Venison meal chosen, not sure it was Venison?
Extra triple cooked chips chosen, stringy French fries given. But still a good stay, although my choice to leave a day early for personal reasons.

We wanted somewhere handy for the leisure centre so easy to get to after a show, and also handy for Kendal centre. This did both. Lovely room, delicious food and friendly staff.

I booked Stonecross Manor Hotel via Agoda for my partner’s birthday, based on their promise of full spa access (pool, sauna, jacuzzi). This was the entire reason we chose this property and drove over 5 hours from London.
When we arrived, we discovered the spa was completely closed for construction, something Agoda never disclosed. The hotel itself was a building site — exposed plaster, unfinished walls, noise everywhere.
Our room was also unacceptable:
* The shower drain was blocked and flooded after 2 minutes, so we couldn’t wash properly for 3 nights.
* Despite reporting it repeatedly, no one fixed it.
* The shower cubicle was dirty and unhygienic, which made it impossible for my partner to even wash her hair.
This was meant to be a relaxing birthday trip, but instead it was stressful, uncomfortable, and ruined.
To make matters worse, Agoda’s customer service has been appalling. I’ve been going back and forth for over a week, only to be told to “wait 10 mins / 24 hours / 48 hours” again and again, with no real solution or accountability. It feels like stalling tactics rather than genuine help.
This is not just poor service — it’s false advertising and misrepresentation. Customers deserve to know the truth before booking, not find out after spending their time and money.
⚠️ Warning: Agoda’s listings cannot be trusted, their customer service is dismissive and unhelpful, and this hotel should not be marketed in its current state. What should have been a special trip was completely ruined — I would strongly advise avoiding both Agoda and this hotel.
