This hotel is located a fair distance from the nearest train station at Skarnes, so if you are a carless traveler like me, be forewarned that it takes over an hour to walk to Skarnes stasjon (presuming you do not use the infrequent Innlandstraffik bus). However, one of my goals was to see what the Odal is like, and so I can confirm that the countryside nearby is very pretty, and you are walking on safe roads and sidewalks for most of the way there and back. All this said, the motel itself was very clean and had excellent facilities. The restaurant was also great—good food (and included breakfast) and helpful staff. Everything was quite clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that I received no communication on where to pick up my room keys, since I came after the 21:00 lobby closing time. After half-freezing in the summer Norwegian witching hours (which thankfully included a still-lit sky), I finally discovered where my keys were. If you're a solo tourist like me, as long as you understand and are comfortable with the distances involved in staying here, this hotel offers good value and a comfortable stay. Long walks aside, I enjoyed being able to visit Oslo, Lillestrøm, and Kongsvinger every day all along the Kongsvinger line.
