    The hotel is very nice and clean. We stay at a ground floor premium lanai room on the south side of the property overlooking a lawn with a partial view of the ocean on the left of the patio. It was nice to be able to lie on the lawn chaise on the patio under the shade. That almost made the very expensive room worthwhile. :-). This side is also the quieter side of the hotel. Pools etc are on the north side. This is also the side where they hold luau's a few times a week. We thought it would be noisy during the luau but it was not. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Ku'uipo at the bell desk was exceptional: attentive, warm, and had good advice for us. Valet was quick and convenient. We are glad that we spent the extra $10 a day for valet parking. By the way, valet parking was free on the first day. We had only one bad experience at the hotel. During checkin around 2PM 6/14, the front desk staff by the name of Sh---y was very impatient with us. She insisted that we asked for 2 double beds instead of a king bed on our reservation. We were so tired that we gave up and took the two double bed room. She was also lazy. ... The first credit card I gave her for incidentals did not swipe through successfully despite the fact that I successfully used the card before and after. She insisted that we provide her another card instead of walking 2 steps over to try our card on a different credit card terminal. So I walked back to my car to get her another card. It was better for her convenience than for mine, I guess. Additionally, she did not spend any time explaining what amenities and services the hotel could provide us. Instead she hurried us up and very impatiently drew on the hotel map after we asked for direction to our room. She couldn't be happier when we got out of her hair. For this, unfortunately, the hotel gets 3 stars, even though we won't mind coming back.

    I would like to say we enjoyed our stay at the Marriott. The staff were wonderful. The view and the location was gorgeous. The luau was amazing! Enjoyed the food. But we had bugs (looked like tiny spiders) near the coffee pot.
