Sand Dunes Resort & Suites

Traveling for Labor Day weekend.. upon arriving the directions weren't very clear. We had to get assistance from the front desk in order to find out what floor the room was on. Once at the room, the door lock was easy to use and change the lock code. When I came inside the first thing I noticed was no comforters on the beds. Next, upon viewing the bathroom I noticed a significant amount of black mold in the tub as well as in the ceiling. The kitchen was fine but the living room window has a lot of gnats flying around. I immediately called the number sent to my email to report the issues. He offered to send over a cleaning lady or refund the money. He did not offer a different location with a clean room. He actually refused upon my asking as well. Once the cleaning lady came she went to work trying to make a difference in the bathroom but the damage is so bad not much changed. There was also a very significant language barrier since she was foreign with a heavy accent. Now we're stuck with the moldy room due to busy holiday weekend. So we get out of the room and try to hit the pools in order to find some happiness in our stay. The indoor pool with two hot tubs had so much chlorine our eyes were burning after the first 5 minutes. The pool was ice cold. Tried to use the outdoor kid pool and the water was ice cold (colder than the ocean). We then try to use the water facilities at the front of the resort only to be turned around by staff. They told us the wrist bands our room provided did not allow access to it. Mind you when booking they advertise pics of the all water facilities as if they're available for use. I then called management back again he was so rude and nasty telling me they don't have wrist bands for us to use the water park. Mind you I'm traveling with a 2&4 year old. That water park was the only reason I picked this particular listing. Not only is our room filthy, now we can't use the water park that we came here for. I went to the front desk and offered to buy water park wrist bands separately since we were already staying at the resort. They quickly told me no there aren't allowed to sell the wrist bands and that my rental company should've informed us that it wasn't available to us. At this point I'm over it. We got food at the restaurant on site and one of the employees kept asking my 2 year old to come with her. It honestly gave me child trafficking vibes so we left. Nothing is worse than trying to plan a nice get away for your family only to find out it's basically money wasted on filth and facilities you're not even allowed to enjoy. The resort has so much to offer I genuinely think it would've been a much better stay if I booked directly from the resort. I booked through Agoda app which offered the listing though "Grand Stand Vacation Rentals" of Myrtle beach. I repeat DO NOT book any property through this company EVER you will be highly disappointed!!!!!! Just book directly from the resort website. I've called and emailed both the rental company and Agoda with no clear solution to our problems with this room. Now my kids are sick and it's only day 2 of our vacation. We have gotten meds but this is crazy!! Mold is nothing to play with be careful when booking.

Very nice and friendly and great for a family vacation

Our room 2526 had beautiful views, but was filthy. Walking in we could tell right away it was not cleaned well. After a long day of traveling the last thing you want to do is clean your room before entering. There wasn’t any toilet paper, or other basic items you think would be supplied.
