Rembrandtplein Hotel

I would strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to think twice before booking. Our experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived until the day we checked out. The first unpleasant surprise was being asked to pay a €100 damage deposit, which was not clear during the booking process and came as a complete surprise at check-in. The room we received was very different from what was advertised. The bathroom shown in the listing bears little resemblance to the one we were assigned. Most importantly, the sink is actually located inside the shower area, meaning it gets soaked every time someone showers. This unusual layout is not shown in any of the hotel’s published photos. If it had been, we would not have booked this room. Cleanliness was another major issue. The shower curtain had visible mold and dirt along the bottom, and we even found a spider in the bathroom. This is simply not the standard of hygiene guests should expect. The room itself was in poor condition, with cracked walls, chipped paint, damaged surfaces and a broken bathroom door handle. It felt neglected and poorly maintained. Noise insulation is practically non-existent. During the night we could clearly hear guests in other rooms having a normal conversation, as if they were standing inside our own room. We even recorded a video around 1:00 a.m. because we could not believe how clearly voices could be heard. This made it extremely difficult to sleep. Another disappointment was the lack of basic comfort. There is no air conditioning and no insect screens on the windows. Because the room became unbearably warm, we had no choice but to keep the window open, allowing mosquitoes and other insects to enter throughout the night. Housekeeping was also below expectations. We were informed only after check-in that towels would not be replaced daily. The towel provided was also much smaller than a standard bath towel, making it impractical for an adult. Overall, the biggest issue is that the hotel does not accurately represent the rooms it offers. The photos create expectations that are not met in reality, and the condition of the room we received fell far below what we expected based on the listing. For the price we paid, this experience was unacceptable. We left feeling disappointed and would not stay here again, nor would we recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

Nice staff, excellent location, just a bit noisy with young ones next door staff bent backwards for you in all aspects we would stay there again if we went back to Amsterdam

Value for money no frills hotel near the city center. Walkable distance to central station. Highly recommended for the value you get for the price!
