Ploen Pattaya Residence

They only got wifi in the lobby . No wifi in any of the rooms so beware when booking . Wished I knew before booking . Rooms are pretty mid for the value.

Clean , helpful staff. Not expensive. Would recommend as outside of the tourist area. Can get a bolt into town or walk to Terminal to get 10฿ around pattaya city

there are several ploen residences in pattay. i stayed at the one on photisam 10, north of terminal 21. room 302. it looked very dated and a little dirty but thankfully the comforter and sheets didn't have stains.. the toilet looked like something out of a horror movie. there were ants infesting inside the toilet tank, a line of ants coming and going.. and inside the toilet tank was the blackest mold i've ever seen. but thankfully the staff was friendly loaned me a can of ant spray and that seemed to take care of the problem within the first few days. the staff was friendly and loaned me a 3rd pillow without charge, also gave me extera towls without extra charge. some hotels will actually rip you off this way, but not this ploen residency. thankfully the room or ac unity didn't smell like mold or mildew. the bathroom smelled just a little (which is common even in expensive hotels here) but i could just keep the door shut and that smell didn't come into the room. the bed was actually REALLY comfortable!! there are way to many super stiff beds at hotels in thailand so i was very happy with this mattress. and even rarer for me, the pillows somehow were perfect for my neck. i actually got very good sleep at this place., for the most part: sometimes it could be a little loud in the room, the walls were very thin and you could hear the tvs or talking from guests in the adjacent rooms. thankfully they quieted down at night. but there's a pool table restaurant and bar that is caddy cornered to photisam 10 ploen so sometimes they would blast their large bluetooth speaker, and that bass would come into my room. im sensitive to sound when trying to sleep, so i had to buy a pair of earplugs and then turn the tv into a loud white noise generator (hdmi cable to mobile device with white noise sleep app installed), and that seemed to drown out the bass from the pool bar. and so i ended up getting great deep sleep that way, for the most part. there's a 7/11 about a 7 minute walk from the hotel which is incredibly convenient for quick cheap meals. there are some great deals on food at the market photisam which is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. the beach is about 25-30 minute walk. termainal 21 (where the best food court deals exist!), its a 30 minute walk (or a 20-30 bhat grab saver bike ride). my biggest complaint with the hotel is that there is no wifi in the rooms(even though the agoda listing stated there is). the staff told me i needed to use it in the lobby. but the lobby is not open 24/7 and i needed to do business with the west at early hours of the morning so i had to sit outside sometimes with lots of mosquitos. and i got lots of bad bites that way. that is my biggest complaint, that the agoda listing states that there's wifi in the rooms, but actually no, there's not. otherwise, if you don't need to do serious business using the internet, i do recommend this place!
