Spacious, large, best bathroom with bathtubs

We were going to Kings Theatre and it was literally a few minutes walk, and also near lots of bars and restaurants so location great. Didn’t realise though that a private bathroom was not attached to the room! You had to go downstairs and use a key, so a little inconvenient when a needed to pee at 4 in the morning and had to get dressed to go to the loo and negotiate a rather steep narrow staircase whilst still half asleep! All in all it was good, room was clean, bathroom clean, but would probably not book again due to bathroom situation. Place could do with a paint, and refresh, was a little tired looking, but if you don’t mind the bathroom thing then for the location is good value for money. Only other thing was the amount of rubbish dumped. We had a side room which only looked onto another building which was fine, but there were pallets, shopping trolleys and split bags of rubbish all over, and also at the front when you come out and down the steps there was rubbish all at ground level which did spoil the look

Although I told host ETA, arrived without receiving code to enter. Tried phoning the number on the building- out of service! Was able to talk to another customer who gave me another number- no response or just hung up! After few tries (no WIFI, only text capability) went to talk to guest house desk manager across street- said several people experienced similar situation I was in.. at this point she said maybe I was duped. Came back and saw people inside so they gave me another number to call- tried several times- no response, “call ended” so I was charged for several calls that were cancelled! Finally after fiddling with email messages from previous occasion, I was able to get code. The building and room were rundown, dingy and just awful-felt like I was in a slum. Window would not close, so all night it was drafty and outside noise was constant, as was sound of rain! To get to “Private” bathroom, (not en-suite ) had go down a steep staircase (don’t know if it met building codes)-very dangerous and difficult for senior person like me. Another resident claimed large bathroom with tub, heater, shower even though later we found out the number on door corresponded to our room number. The light was in poor condition so only got flickering illumination. The bathroom we used had only shower and single light bulb with exposed hanging wire! It was dangerous to go up and down the stairs so we ended using toilet right next door which belonged to the room next door. For the ridiculous amount we were charged, I expected better, but instead got a room similar to residential boarding room in a low income apartment/situation. Their photo does NOT match the room we stayed in. We were duped!
