I went there for three days to visit NYC. Even though the hotel is not in the best neighborhood, we feel extremely safe.
Cops regularly come file their report in the dining room.
Room was clean, services were excellent.
However, breakfast was cheap and not really good. Plan some food or restaurant ahead.
At a walking distance of the subway, this hotel is extremely good for its price. 9/10 would recommend.

Old Opera House common spaces are great, especially the breakfast dining room where guests can ALSO find coffee and cookies ANYtime.
I awarded only 4 stars to facilities because In my room, in the summer,
I was bothered by air conditioner hummm — but guests who live and/or work in air conditioned facilities may not even notice the hum.
What’s outstanding at Opera House is the extra consideration offered by all staff whom I encountered. A perfect example was Sandra, of the breakfast staff, who could be a mind reader….
True, the Bronx hotel location is north of central Manhattan but the downtown subway stop is steps away and trains come frequently! Bring your guidebook and consult it while you ride….

The hotel looked outdated, but staff was amazing beside housekeeping they did not come to bring me new towels or cleaned my bed. Upon this trip i received a cut on my side from one of the closet doors.
