Olanro Negombo Hotel

I made the mistake of booking this hotel without reading the policy. The hotel's garden and the pool was under renovation, the entire hotel's vibe shown in the picture didn't exist. The hotel doesn't inform you via a message, its just written in their policy, however everything outdoor is under renovation and is an absolute vibe killer! So I would blame myself for not reading it, however it doesn't end here. I asked the staff what time do you work? they said its in the afternoon, not early morning, yet hammers were started around 7:20am. Moving onto the room, after all this, one would at least expect the room to be good enough, however that wasn't the case. The vibe of the room was nice without a doubt, they had paintings and a good aesthetic, but that was it. The room had serious hygiene issues. Found hair on the side tables, the bedsheet and sheets had some stains. The hotel is also unaware of blackout curtains at all, something you'd find in any hotel regardless of the price. the room had 2 large windows and a safety glass on top of the door, one window had a blackout blind, but 1 large window, nor the safety glass had any tint, so it will force you to wake up around 6:30am. The TV in the room didn't work, they said they can't get the signal due to the weather, though I had sim from the same network as the system they had and was like that for both the days. My tolerance was broken after i found over a dozen ants everywhere on the room's working table, where I was working on my laptop and asked the room to be changed. The staff was nice enough to change my room which seemed better, however the good times werent so good. The new bathroom had an everlasting odor that didn't go away even after i finished half of my perfume bottle, the new room's AC would practically shout in a stutter for good 5-10mis after being turned on and turned off. Considering the price, if hygiene existed despite the pool under renovation, it was a good deal but the hygiene and too much sunshine in the morning is difficult to tolerate at any price. The good part: The staff was very courteous, they added a small fruit platter on both my breakfast platters to make my experience a bit better. The restaurant had a great vibe, and they didn't serve buffet but a breakfast platter, that was really good too. They didn't have a pool, so the staff offered to facilitate me to a pool at another property at about a 5mins drive. The only points I gave are because of the staff and the fact that it's closer to Negombo's main walking street area, approx a 2mins drive.

​"My stay here was completely disappointing from start to finish. Despite being advertised as a 3-star hotel, the property was actively undergoing heavy renovations, and the swimming pool was closed. It has big buildings , rooms were not bad but ​Maintenance is severely lacking: the verandas were constantly flooded with rainwater due to a lack of regular cleaning (done maybe once a day). The advertised lounge bar and café menu were a complete illusion—dinner was restricted to basic fried rice, noodles, kothu, or a sandwich (none of the actual menu items were available), lunch was exclusively rice and curry, and they claimed they had 'no ingredients' for simple juices or cocktails. ​To top it all off, the staff attitude was appalling, especially the evening and night shifts. They were unaccommodating, unfriendly, and seemed to take pleasure in saying 'no' to everything. The location is also poorly accessible, with Uber Eats and PickMe failing to service the area properly at night. ​As the cherry on top, they overcharged us massively—billing 200 LKR for a 500ml water bottle that has an MRP of 80 LKR. ​I have stayed at local homestays for less than half the price that offered exponentially better service, food, and hospitality. Save your money and stay elsewhere." Total disappointment
