Okuine Onsen Aburaya

We booked this Onsen hotel partly because everywhere in Ine town was full and partly because of the reviews and photos. It exceeded our expectations in every way. A few weeks before our booking, the hotel emailed to check our arrival time at the train station so they would have a car service waiting for us when we arrived. The drive to the hotel is about 40 minutes from Amanohashidate station. Upon arriving we were check into the standard room we booked but elected to upgrade to the much larger and better appointed room next door. We didn’t realize that breakfast and dinner is included in the room price each day and the multi-course seafood meals were excellent. All locally sourced fresh ingredients, exquisitely prepared and presented. The front desk staff arranged a car to drop us off in Ine so we could wander around for the day and then picked us up when we were ready to go back to the hotel in the afternoon. The onsen baths were a great way to unwind and they even had a small sauna and a couple of massage chairs. The front desk staff even helped us plan out travel to our next destination. I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. Incredible service and a memorable experience.

We stayed one night at Okuine Onsen Aburaya, and it was truly a memorable experience. Although the ryokan is located quite far out, the beautiful scenery and serene atmosphere more than made up for the travel time. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable, making us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were excellent, beautifully presented and full of authentic flavors. The private onsen with a sea view is an absolute must-try — a perfect spot to unwind and soak in the peaceful surroundings. Even though it’s a small, quiet town, the charm and tranquility make it a wonderful weekend getaway. We also took the local bus, which was easy to use and gave us a glimpse into the calm, unhurried lifestyle of the area. Overall, Okuine Onsen Aburaya offers a perfect blend of comfort, tradition, and natural beauty — highly recommended for anyone seeking relaxation and a genuine Japanese onsen experience.

I think there might be a problem with agoda which does not provide all information when booking. I had a terrible experience at this hotel and felt completely misled. I booked a room for ¥42,000, expecting at least the basic standard of comfort and privacy—especially since this hotel is listed as 4 stars on Google. However, upon arrival, I was shocked to find that our room didn’t even have a private shower. There was no mention whatsoever in the booking confirmation or on Agoda that the room came without a private shower. When I asked the front desk, the hotel manager said our room is the only one in the hotel without a shower, and they offered no apology or solution. The only option they gave was to pay extra to use a private onsen, which is outrageous considering the high room price. You’d expect at least a complimentary solution in this situation, but they offered nothing. The hotel manager were completely unhelpful, brushing us off with, “You booked this type of room,” without acknowledging the lack of transparency in the listing. On top of that, the room looked nothing like the photos shown on the website, which added to the disappointment. For the price we paid, this experience was absolutely unacceptable. I would never stay here again, and I strongly advise others to be very cautious when booking. There are far better places with honest listings and staff who actually care about guests.
