    We stayed at Ocean Gate Inn in June for my daughter's graduation. We understand supply and demand drives rates up during busy times, but the price was very high for what we got. Unfortunately, the room didn't match the cost. The floor looked dirty and there was an unpleasant smell when we walked in. After we checked in and stayed our first night, the room wasn't cleaned, the bed wasn't made, and the towels weren't replaced during our stay. Which means they didn't not come in to do any of those things once we paid. One of the window shade louvers was broken off, letting light into the room from the balcony. The paint was bubbling in the shower stall, the towels felt thin and yucky and best of all, the smoke detector was missing. Parking was tight under the buildings, so finding a spot was tough with our larger SUV. On the plus side, it's within walking distance of the Boardwalk, though that wasn't our reason for visiting. We chose this hotel mainly because it was close to my daughter's apartment. Overall, the location worked for us, but the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety issues were disappointing for the price.

    Staff was really nice. Plenty of covered parking and close 10 min walk to the boardwalk and 20 min walk to downtown. Convenience aside. The bed and pillows were hard and horrible. Floors were really dirty. Leaves your feet/socks/slippers black when walking around your room. Smelled like smoke odor when we walked in. Had to air it out. I don’t think they wash the top blankets since there was a concerning amount of hair on it and on the top sheet. Would be a comfortable stay if it was well maintained.
