    I arrived by train and the hotel was just opposite the station. Staff were so friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, lovely white towels, comfortable bed all with tea and coffee facilities in the room.

    We stayed following a wedding party. The hotel itself is clean with good facilities and the food in the restaurant was ok. The function staff however are so slow it totally ruined the whole day. The bride stood at the bar for 20 minutes waiting to be served, while I appreciate they’re busy, I would think out of courtesy the bride would be seen to first…. The microphone didn’t work for the speeches and the wedding breakfast took nearly 3 hours because they were so slow in serving it. There was no draft in the function room so guests either had to pay extra for bottles or go to the bar downstairs which totally divided the party. Everything ran behind time while they were changing rooms around. During the evening it was requested for the lights to be turned down and the curtains closed to give more of a party vibe (9:30pm) and the staff reply was “I don’t think they’re bothered, they all just want to get their kids to bed”. Just rude and inconsiderate was the vibe of the day. The room we had was very hot, no air con, we wedged the fan in the open window to pull in some fresh air which helped but the radiators were on. Reception said they could send someone up to remove the fuses from the radiators but it would be a while… not what you want at 11pm when you want to crawl into bed. The noise outside went on till after 3am and we couldn’t shut it out because of the heat. Come 7am the road sweepers came, on a Sunday…! 3, one after the other 😔 Didn’t even have breakfast, we just left and came home to sleep. Overall it wasn’t a pleasant stay at all.
