Mantra Adelaide Central

I booked a one bedroom spa apartment. It really was quite an average stay despite having a desirable room option. It started off fairly badly before I’d even checked in. I called the hotel 5 minutes before arriving and was told the car park is several streets away and about a 10 minute walk from the hotel as I needed to offload several car loads of luggage into the hotel and asked if there was a place I could temporarily park to offload the luggage. I was told there was a few spots available at the back of the hotel to park temporarily. When I got there, there was absolutely no spots and had to risk offloading luggage while parked illegally. More spaces to temporarily park would be ideal as this is really inconvenient. When checking in, the receptionist was so overwhelmed with the amount of people trying to check in. It’s obvious that more than one receptionist is needed because when it was time for me to be served, receptionist was so flustered, gave me my room door cards and didn’t give me the car park pass for the car park a 10 minute walk away. When I got to the car park, I had to speak to a customer service attendant from the carpark who was kind enough to open the boom gate for me. When I got back to the hotel and explained that I wasn’t given a QR code to access the carpark, the receptionist aggressively stated to me that the room key should have opened the Wilson’s car park boom gate. I explained that it didn’t and he rolled his eyes, printed out a code, slammed an eftpos terminal onto the counter and said I needed to pay for two days (I’m not sure why this wasn’t done in the first place rather than trying to argue with me). While the room was spacious, it was quite unclean. Upon arrival, 2 out of the 4 towels supplied were dirty with black marks and makeup. After the first night, I went to the receptionist to double check the room would be cleaned at 11:30am when I left the hotel for a few hours. They assured me it would be. When getting back to the room at just after 3pm, nothing was done to the room to clean it. I asked the receptionist again to make sure the room as I was going to pop out of the hotel again until about 6pm. When coming back again, all that was done was a bin was emptied and the towels were finally replaced. When checking out, I was told that cleaning staff do a bare minimum on weekends, including not making the bed (despite two other receptionists assuring me it would be cleaned). Also, this hotel was advertised on Agoda as having a sauna. When getting to the hotel, there was no sauna. Also, breakfast was advertised at $24 per person, which you could buy at the hotel reception. When looking at what options were available using the QR code in the hotel room, it was about 5 cold sandwich/basic toastie options from a cafe next door.l or a $15.95 box cereal with processed fruit juice option. While the location is smack bang in the middle of the city and very convenient in that sense, it’s the only attractive feature of that hotel. Everything else was deeply, severely disappointing and I really won’t be back.

We loved staying at Mantra Central Apartments. The location was so good, right in the heart of the city. The room was super clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

Great location, everything is within walking distance. The hotel is close to restaurants, shops, and public transport, making it very convenient. Overall, a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Even though room was clean and tidy, there was no bottles of water in fridge. A small carton of milk was only item in fridge. Television was sitting on an angle and outside noise overnight made it difficult to sleep. Windows could do with a good clean. Not what I was expecting for the money. Have stayed at better for cheaper.
