Mamutik Island Resort

We had an amazing stay at this hotel. The beach is incredibly close, and you don’t need to swim far to spot fish and coral reefs.

It was possibly 35 or so years ago since I last stepped on this island and decided to see if it was different. Glad to see it has since improved and more work in progress can be seen. I came here to unwind after a very hectic week with work and it didn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for activities, there’s a few things to do but don’t expect miracles if you’re comparing this to the other islands… as said, I came here to relax and chill. It would be great if there was wifi access to the rooms as I wanted to watch stuff on YouTube. Thankfully my phone became a hotspot and managed to watch some documentaries. The Seaview room we got was super clean, and had a stunning view outside. We went for a quick hike into the forest and be prepared for some hectic mosquito bites and worse , sand flies. I got bitten and they’re itchy as fk. We had dinner there too as we were the only guests , they’re simple local meals, and I ordered fried rice, and to be honest they’re quite decent. Next morning we woke up at 8am and had breakfast, which has a lot of room to improve but it’s early days and I’m actually content. The staff there is super helpful and friendly with our questions and request. Overall, I would return here again to unwind, not for other things cause it’s such a peaceful quick getaway. Facilities like Internet access could be improved, and matter of time. Just remember, if you want to have a super quiet getaway, this is the place to be, in my honest opinion.

I come with some expectation of sandfly, trash and not that much after reading all reviews online But now experiencing myself, i got 0 sandfly bite. Is not that much actually. Trash is minimal at hotel side of the beach. Beach and corals are absolutely stunning. Staff service is better than some 5star hotel i hv stayed. This resort is perfect 5 star for me. No complaints, only happiness and satisfaction.

Our expectations were wrongly set by the photos and descriptions that the resort posts online. The ocean view room was l lovely large, nice bathroom and amazing view from balcony. The resort though is a dive centre and run like a beach bar. The main pool is small and also used by the divers for training some of the time (they have a 2nd pool as week for diving). All the staff wear dive tee shirts. No sun loungers. The bar is basic. Drinks during the day are beers, a wine, Coke and Sprite. No mocktail, juices or Coke Zero here. Not a good selection for kids or adults who do not drink alcohol. There is a beach bar along the beach that does fresh juices during the day worth visiting. Food is well cooked and tasty but also fairly limited range (reasonable for an island though). Again best local food from the other beach bar. Cleaning: room are clean but grounds are not done very well apart from a man once a day who goes around with petrol blower to blow some leaves around. There are used tissues still after 2 days and 3 metres from reception and the bar that none can be bothered to pick up. I raise this with reception and they tried to Fob me off by saying, leaves drop all the time. This is poor / lazy operational management. Get the room cleaners to do the grounds as well once a day. When the dive guys clean out their rooms and push the dirty water onto path around pool, get them to clean the pool area at same time. Everywhere in main parts could do with a paint. There is building work going on at front of hotel trying to put up concrete sea walls. Bit of a mess. Beach is busy when tourist come but sand is lovely extra fine sand. We did not see any rubbish in the sea and we did not get bitten so beach was nice overall. Overall if you are a diver or happy with a relaxed 1 star beach vibe then this is a nice place. But if you pay a lot for an Ocean view room then the room does not match the rest of the place.
