LionsDive Beach Resort

Our apartment was so clean and comfortable. We had a deck that looked right at the sunset. The beaches were clean and sufficient chairs and shady spots The staff was very helpful. We used the free shuttle into Willemstad, which was so easy! We loved it.

While my stay at this resort had some positive moments, there were several aspects that fell short of expectations based on the beautiful photos I had seen prior to booking. As soon as we entered the lobby, we noticed the dates decor. From the wallpaper to the dark wood, everything had a late 70s-early 80s feel. the room appeared quite dated. The lighting throughout was dim and yellowish, creating a rather tired ambiance. I noticed paint peeling from the walls, which initially wasn't apparent, as it was covered by a random retractable green screen for some reason .The ceiling fan did offer some added air circulation, though it had to be started by hand after flipping the switch on, and produced a scraping noise that only stopped after the fan got up to speed. Privacy was also a concern, as the balcony was more of a shared space without dividers, and the bathroom lacked proper ventilation. The bathroom vent was simply a slatted window with mesh, which didn’t help with moisture or privacy. Odors and humidity tended to linger, which detracted from comfort. Additionally, the in-room TV had poor quality, though this wasn’t a huge issue since I didn’t plan to spend much time in the room. However, even small details like unclean coffee cups and unclean bathroom left an unfortunate impression. Noise was another notable concern. Being on the third floor, I expected less disturbance, but the room overlooked both the pool and lobby, leading to considerable noise, particularly early in the morning. The construction just outside the room compounded this issue, with high-traffic areas and children running around as early as 6 a.m. One oversight on my part was the power outlet setup. Travelers may want to be aware that converters might be needed, though I fortunately had mine on hand. On a positive note, the complimentary bag and water bottle were thoughtful touches. The staff, while not especially accommodating, were consistently friendly. The "private beach" which was shared by another resort was quite crowded and there seem to be no rules against guests "reserving" spots by leaving their towels and items on seats and palapas. Overall, it’s possible that the images I had seen were from a different side of the resort. Perhaps there are updates taking place, but even without updates, for the price, the room we had was not worth it and was extremely disappointing. After speaking with several repeat guests (all divers), the concensus was LionsDive is a great place to drop your gear and go dive/snorkel; it is not a place for rest, relaxation, convenience, or honeymooning.
